Responding to the inquiry about Theresa Saxe. I have a Saxe family genealogy which is incomplete and does not include her, but was wondering about a connection. Have you heard of John Saxe of Highgate, VT? Are you related to Conrad Barr of Highgate? (c.1800)

I'm not related but have a book of poems by John Godfrey Saxe. He dedicated the book to Hon. George P. Marsh,United States Minister Resident at Constantinople. Then under that it's typed Burlington, Vermont 1849. On one of the front pages it is signed by, L.W Kingman Franklin, October 1866. There are poems glued to the front pages. If interested feel free to e-mail me. Thank you Linda

Thank you, Linda! I am very interested in the book. My parents have picked up volumes of his poetry, but none with such an interesting dedication. I would be happy to reimburse you for the book, packing, and shipping. (couldn't figure out how to email)

I know this is an old post, but I'm hoping someone can help me make a connection. I am a direct descendant of Conrad Barr, Conrad Barr, Jr., Hiram Abiff Barr, James Allen Barr (my grandfather). My grandfather was told that Ira Allen was his Great or Great-Great Grandfather. I know that Conrad Barr was married to Elizabeth who supposedly a sister to Catherine Weaver wife of John Saxe. Is there any connection between Ira Allen or did Conrad Barr have more than one wife? Any information would be appreciated.
