"Minturn" is, as I recall, an Old English term meaning "house/place where mint grows"; the shipping family had roots in England.

My mother's maiden name was Minturn, Lorraine/Loraine. It is possible her father's name was William Minturn. She married a Carson and I was born Helen Marie Carson in Denver Colorado, July 21, 1940. If anyone has any information it would be appreciated.
