I would like to exchange information with anyone who knows about the Stafford or McQueen families. William McQueen took a homestead in Strong Township a few miles north of Sundridge in 1883. His daughter, Maggie, married Frank Stafford in Sundridge in 1887 and they farmed in Chapman Township west of Sundridge. The Staffords moved to Alberta as part of the Parry Sound Colonists in 1894. Some of the McQueens followed later. I already have the census information but would be interested in knowing anything else.

Is this the William Mcqueen family you refer too. Or perhaps his son. There are two trees up at ancestry.com but both DO NOT HAVE a CONTACT PERSON LISTED. When I look at the tree and I cannot tell when either were submitted. It advises two of this man's children "still living".

It would be preferable to have you contact the people who submitted the trees. Since that cannot be done if you send me an e-mail address I will send you the descendancy charts for you to use as an "outline" in a private e-mail.

If you choose to do this PLEASE BE ADVISED I am not related to the McQueen's/Stafford family IN ANY WAY and therefore cannot VERIFY any information in the descendancy charts or advise you HOW COMPLETE they are.

Hi
I don't have a person by that name in my records. Do you know what his parents' or grandparents' names were?

Hi Jim,

I am a Hall descendant and do not have any earliier Stafford info. But I do have the living people but do not know any of them.

Willam and Shirley Hall Stafford have the following children:

Mark, Dawn, Andrew, Paul

They probably live somewhere in the Muskoka area of Ontario, somewhere near Port Carling. Or if they don't live near there now, they probably have a summer place near there, possibly on Lake Muskoka or Lake Joseph.

In Port Carling there is a Poneer Village and Museum. The Museum itself is the old Hall family homestead from 1880. On the wall in the museum reception area there is the Hall family tree which includes the above Staffords.

I have some information on the Stafford/McQueen families as my great grandmother is Grace Alexandria (Stafford) Grummett-Gibson. I have little info on Frank's parents and Margaret's parents, as well as info on where Frank and Margaret lived and farmed throughout their lives. If this is of any interest, please reply.

Hi
All that I have in my records is that Grace Alexandra Stafford was born in Alberta on 4 Aug 1897 and that she married Norman Grummet. I would be pleased to exchange information about these people.

Frank Stafford was born 12 November 1860 in Barrie Ontario. His parents names are John and Elizabeth. Margaret McQueen was born 19 January 1859 in Alloa Scotland. Her parents names are William and Isabel McQueen. Frank and Margaret married in 1887 and farmed in Parry Sound Ontario. They moved to Alberta in 1894 and farmed in Bruderheim and Lamont. Frank built and ran a livery stable in Lamont and also ran the mail from Lamont to Saddle Lake. In 1912 they moved to Athabasca to farm. Margaret passed away 10 August 1920. Frank sold the farm in Athabasca to his son Howard in 1936 and spend the remaining years of his life living with family members. He passed in May 1943.

Frank and Margaret had six children. John was born in 1882 and married Rosina Worth and had three boys. Mary (Mame) was born 1888 and married Sidney Mearon, no children. William James was born 1891 and married Pearl Nelson and had two boys. Franny Louise was born 1893 and married Lewis Embertson, no children. Grace Alexandria was born 4 August 1897 and married Norman Grummett and had six children. Howard Richard was born 1899 and married Kathleen Mann and had three children.

Grace Alexandria is my great grandmother. Her daughter Isabel Grummett married Gordon Bell, both living in Edmonton.

I hope this helps, I also have photo's of the Stafford's dating back to roughly 1905.

Hello again
Thank you for that. I have two questions and a correction. Question: What is your source for the location of Frank Stafford's birthplace? I have never been able to find one. His parents were farmers in Flos township where all of their other children were born. But Frank was born before they were married so he may have been born in Barrie.
Question #2. Frank was raised by Obadiah Stafford and Elizabeth Booth but he was born before they were married. Who is the John who you name as his father?
Correction: My grandfather is John Stafford, born in 1882. But he was born in Glascow before his mother and the McQueen family came to Canada.

Hello Jim,

My source is a book titled "FROM OUT OF THE WILDERNESS", chronicling the biographies of the pioneers in and around the Athabasca AB area that was published in 1986 by The Eight Horizons Historical Society.

Question, my grandma, Isabel Bell, is wondering how your mother Doris is doing?
