Helen Horsley Tigert, 82, Soda Springs, Idaho, passed away at Caribou Memorial Hospital on February 16, 2000. She was born May 29, 1917, in Butte, Montana, to Ted and Florence Page Horsley. The family moved to Conda, Idaho, where her father worked for Anaconda Copper Mining Co. She attended grade school in Conda, and graduated at the age of 16 from Soda Springs High School. After graduation she worked at Anaconda Mining Co., until 1942.

On June 20, 1942, Helen married Russell Tigert, Jr., in St. Louis, MO. They lived there until he completed medical school in 1943. They then moved to Fort Logan, Colorado, where they resided until 1947. From 1947 to 1952, the family lived in Montpelier, Idaho. Since 1952, Helen resided in Soda Springs.

She attended the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women's organization. She was also an active member of the Caribou Memorial Hospital auxiliary, and the American Legion auxiliary. For many years Helen was chairman of the American Red Cross blood drive. She was a member of the Soda Springs Golf Club, where she was the Women's Club champion for several years.

Helen is survived by three children, Mary K. (Reece) Garrow of Rupert, Idaho, Sudie (Dick) Horseburgh of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Russell Tigert III (Tony) of Clearfield, UT; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her sister Tommy Patterson of Lakewood, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Russell Tigert and two brothers, Ted and Bob Horsley.

Services will be held at the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church Saturday, February 19, 2000, at noon. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church or their favorite charity. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.

Do you know the address of the house that Helen lived in when she lived in Conda. My mother was her sister.

I don't remember Conda having any house numbers. It is and was a very small mining town with very small houses that were company built and rented out. Unless someone else answers you with something different, I can not recall any specific house either. You could see if the Anaconda Mining Co. might still be in business and if so, if they might have had records of some sort. The Anaconda Mining Co. headquarters when I was younger was in Butte, Montana. Sorry that I can't give you specific information. When I knew the family they were in Soda Springs, a larger town than Conda.
