Hi Daryl! Just happened to check a few
things in the Montréal library and also did
some checking for you. Unfortunately,
the only thing i found concerning Marie
Lavigne was her marriage. Nowhere in the
St-David, St-Michel, St-François-du-Lac, and
the Trois-Rivières parish books, or Drouin
books is there any mention of any children
from Marie's and Léandre's marriage.
I did, however, find the lineage from Marie
onwards. Here's what i have:

Marie Lavigne married Léandre Bibeau in
St-David de Yamaska on 1 Jun 1841.

(her parents) - Jean Lavigne (shown in the
books as Tessier dit Lavigne, and Marie-
Louise Petit (daughter of Pierre Petit and
Marie-Louise Bélanger), married in St-Michel
de Yamaska on 3 Jul 1820.

(his parents) - Jean-Baptiste Tessier dit
Lavigne, and Marie-Anne Jannot dit Lachapelle
(daughter of Joseph Jannot dit Lachapelle),
married in Longue-Pointe on 18 Aug 1793.

(his parents) - Nicolas Tessier dit Lavigne
and Josette Trudeau (daughter of Pierre-
Joseph Trudeau and Marie-Josephte Baudreau),
married in Longue-Pointe on 25 Feb 1754.

(his parents) - Nicolas Tessier dit Lavigne
(born and baptised 9 Sept 1708 in Montréal)
and Charlotte Richard (daughter of Jacques
and Elisabeth Baudereau), married in Longue-
Pointe on 7 Jan 1732.

(his parents) - Jean-Baptiste Tessier dit
Lavigne and Elisabeth Renaud (daughter of
Antoine and Elisabeth Hubert), married in
Montréal on 4 Nov 1698. They had 11 children.

(his parents) - Urbain Tessier dit Lavigne
and Marie Archambault (daughter of Jacques
Archambault and Françoise Tourault), married
in Québec city on 28 Sept 1648. They had
16 children.
Now for Léandre Bibeau.

(his parents) - Jean-Baptiste Bibeau and
Thérèse Laroche (daughter of Michel Laroche
and Cécile Cartier), married in St-Michel
de Yamaska on 5 Nov 1810.

(his parents) - Antoine Bibeau and Marguerite
Gagné (widow of Laferté Théroux), married
in St-Michel de Yamaska on 4 Oct 1779.

(his parents) - François-Xavier Bibeau and
Agathe Larivière-Chapdelaine (daughter of
Pierre Larivière-Chapdelaine and Charlotte
Pinard), married in St-François-du-Lac on 19 May 1749.

(his parents) - Pierre Bibeau (born in
St-François-du-Lac, baptised 16 Oct 1685 in
Sorel)and Madeleine Parenteau (daughter of
Pierre Parenteau and Madeleine Tisserand),
married in St-François-du-Lac on 28 Nov 1705.

(his parents) - François Bibeau, married
(1) Jeanne Chalifou, in Québec city on
17 Aug 1671. They had 1 child. She died
before the 1681 census. Her parents were
Paul Chalifou and Jacquette Archambault.

(2) Louise Esnard (Pierre's mother), in
Trois-Rivières on 17 Nov 1682. They had
9 children. She died between 28 Nov 1706
and 18 Jan 1716 in St-François-du-Lac.
Her parents were Simon Esnard and Marie

François Bibeau was the son of Jacques
Bibeau, tavern-keeper, and Jeanne Savignaux,
of LaFond, diocese of La Rochelle (Charente-
Maritime), France. He was 37 at the 1667
census in Trois-Rivières. He was signed at
LaRochelle on 10 Apr 1656 as a farmer.
Well! that's all i have for you, sorry i
couldn't find anything further on Marie.
Have a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.
Best regards. Jean.

I am researching my family, but in doing so , I have found a reference to two Bibault brothers who lived in the Galesville, Trempealeau,Wisconsin area in the 1840s. There names were Leander and Michael. There is no mention of Leander having a wife. They both worked for the American Fur Company at one time, and both apparently became involved in the buying and selling of land. There is a reference to them having some transactions in the Mineral Point, Wisconsin area in 1849. Hope this is of some interest to you. My e-mail address is My name is Mark, and I live only 20 miles from these settlements.
