Hi Jeff,
Oscar's wife is one of four sisters to my great grandfather, Joseph Kepke. Either Maria born 1866, Katherine born 1870, Anna Helena born 1872 or Ida born 1879. Would you know what Oscar's wife's first name is or do you have any information on their descendants?

Did Oscar have a brother Julius? Is Joseph related to Henry Heisig also living in Windsor in the 1860's.

Julius M /HEISIG/, 14 Sep 1864, d. 1 Aug 1947
George: "Robert" /HEISIG/, 24 May 1870, d. 5 Apr 1938

Oscar's family:

Helen or Hellen /HEISIG/ abt 1905

I don't have anything on Mary or Marie Kepke's sisters, but her father, was born in Austira, about 1845, and her mother in Bohemia, I think about 1865. Do you have anything new on these relative?

Thanks, Lin Hochstetter, searching Heisig, Dieruf, Wernick, etc.

Oscar Heisig was my great-grandfather. His daughter, Mayme, was my grandmother. She married Roman Schey. They had 3 children: Leona, Gene, and Reuben. Leona is my mother. Gene and Reuben still reside in Sun Prairie, WI. Leona retired and moved to Florida several years ago.

May I ask your interest??

Your grandmother, Mayme Heisig (1900-2004), and my grandmother Sophie Kepke (1908-1980) are cousins. Mayme's mother, Mary Kepke (1866-1924) is a sister to my great grandfather, Joseph Kepke (1864-1936). You and I share the same great great grandparents, Joseph and Katherine (Scheblak) Kepke. I would be most happy to exchange information with you on the family. Please contact me at

My great grandfather, ROBERT HEISIG who married LOUISE DIERUF, and your gg OSCAR HEISIG were brothers, I believe. Their paarents were JOSEPH AND MATILDA HEISIG. I live in Morrisonville, near DeForest, where,I believe you once lived. Robert & Mary Ajer were my parents, w/MayBelle Heisig Ajer Hedlund and Norman Alfred Ajer as my grandparents.)

Do you have any info on Joseph or Mathilda's family? Mine is spotty, at best. Do you know if Joseph and Henry Heisig were brothers, and if so, did they come to America together? Thanks. Lin Hochstetter

Surnames: Heisig Gomolka
Pretty sure that Mathilda (your ggg grandmother) was Mathilda Gomolka (Mar 16 1833-May 19 1907). Her parents were Ferdinand Gomolka (Apr 16 1810-Jan 4 1894) and Marie Nave (Jan 8 1809 in Kreschendorf Neustadt Germany-May 17 1897). Both Ferdinand and Marie are buried in Forest Hill cemetery in Madison WI. Photos of Ferdinand and Marie are attached.
Feel free to check out my family tree (Kayser, Gomolka, Heisig), I have more info than it will let me post online.
I think that Henry Heisig Sr and Joseph Heisig were brothers (they married Gomolka sisters Mathilda and Frances Johanna). I have that they immigrated to Dane County WI in July 1854. If you have any more info on the Heisig side, I'd love to know Henry Heisig Sr's parents etc).
