It never hurts to ask...again and again! Researching the family of John Davis, who d. in Greene Co. 1806. We BELIEVE his wife was Sarah "Sally" Buchanan, but it is unproven. According to his will, his children were:

1. John Leain Davis
2. Fields Davis
3. Patsey Davis
4. Sarrey [Sarah] Davis (we think may be the Sarah Davis who married John Adams)
5. Carter Milton Davis
6. Jesse Davis, m. Sarah Antrim April 3, 1806 in Greene Co; he d. 1823 (SEE TRANSCRIPTION OF HIS WILL ON GREENE CO. GENWEB SITE). She d. Jan. 14, 1835.

We have a good bit of descendant information on Jesse Davis and Sarah Antrim, but would like to fill in a lot of blanks. We have virtually no information on John Davis or his other children.

Aside for those who are working together on this project (you know who you are), if you are researching this DAVIS family of early Greene County, please let me know!!!

I am from the McAmish line and in the 1850 census of Greene County, Tennessee, William McAmish and his wife Nancy are listed as living with thier two children Hannah and Wilson and Thomas Davis, age 85, who was born in Virginia and was a labourer (he was also a mulatto). My family records show that this is poss. Nancy's great grandfather. Anyways, I hope this is helpful.

The Thomas Davis listed with Nancy and William McAmis is probably the slave Tom that Nancy's father, Jesse Davis mentions in his will. Tom is to be cared for by Jesse's descendents, not to be sold, but to be able to work and keep his own money. Tom is about the same age as Nancy's grandfather John Davis, who is the Davis "brickwall".

Hello, I am trying to find the siblings, parents, etc.... of Phineas (Phinias) Davis that was in Greene co.Tn in 1804. He married Mary Loyd Dec.26, 1804 in Greene co. They moved to Wayne co.KY prior to 1810. They had three small children on the 1810 census (two males and one female under 10). They had another boy by the name of Nathan(iel)Thomas Davis in 1811. After that, I have information on Nathan Thomas, starting with his marriage in 1831, to Malinda Oden, in Roane co. TN. They moved to Alabama and had nine children there. They are on the Blount co.Alabama census for 1850. They then moved to Leon co.TX and are on the 1860 census there. If you have any connection to this line, let me know! I have information on Nathan Thomas and his descendants. Thanks,
Alice Braddy Davis
