I am writing this in hopes that all researchers of Meshack and Shaderach will contribute any other information that they have. Or at least check-in and leave their name so that they can be contacted when the mystery is solved.

Also, don't worry if you have Meshack with a different spelling. It has been recorded in census records, death records and tax records as:
Meshack, Marshal, Masich, Mashac, Meshach, Machck and Moshash.

Meshack and his (twin?) brother Shadrach King were born in 1780 in Md. They lived in Washington County, Pa for a while and can be found on page 698 of the 1800 Census. The only other King shown in that county is Thomas on page 893. Could this be a brother or their father?

Then the brothers show up in the 1810 census on page 25 in Ohio County, Va.(now WV). The only other King shown in that county is Soloman on page 2. Another Biblical brother?

It is believed that they moved to Sarahville, Union Township, Monroe County in 1815. They appear
together in the 1820 Monroe County, Oh census. Next door to Shaderach is Richard Wells. I believe Richard is the father of Shaderach's wife Elizabeth and possibly Meshack's wife Mary. I have been told they were sisters but have found some information to the contrary.

Meshack and his sons John and Thomas appear together in the Monroe County tax record of 1826.
I descend from both John and Thomas King.

Meshack, John and Thomas appear on page 122 of the Monroe County census of 1830. Meshack is listed in the "History of Noble County, Ohio" as being a land owner in 1833. Only John and Thomas appear in the 1840 census so I believe that Meshack died between 1833 & 1840.

Shaderach and his wife Elizabeth appear on page 478 of the 1850 census still living in Union Township, Monroe County, Oh. Meshack's widow Mary is on the same page living with her daughter Elizabeth Needs.

Meshack's children were:
John 1801 Va.(WV)-1872 Oh.
Meshack Jr. 1802
Unknown 1803
Thomas 1804 Va,-1881 Oh.
David 1806-1870
Rachel 1808-1850
Jacob 1810
Nancy 1812-1890
William 1813-1869
Elijah 1815-1860
Silas 1816-1840
Unknown 1820-1821
Elizabeth 1822-1895

His son John KING was born on
17 Sep 1801 Woods Co.,Wv In 1826 he married
Rebecca "Ruba" PERKINS who was born 12 Nov 1804 in Oh.

1.Mary A. KING 1827
2.Nancy A. KING 1832
3.Elijah KING 1834
4.Jacob KING 1836
5.John KING 1848
6.Hannah Jane KING 1841
7.William KING 1846
8.Martha Ann KING 1846
9.Nelson KING
10.Samuel KING

Meshack's son Thomas was married four times.
1st to Jane (my ancestor) 1824/1825 2nd to Charity 1828/1835
3ed to Susannah Coons 13 Jan. 1861 4th Unknown

Thomas and Charity had these children:

Mary 1835, Meshack 1837, Nelson 1839, William 1840-1845, Sarah 1846, William Swaze King 1849 and Harrison 1 Nov. 1850 All were born in Monroe County except Harrison. They didn't move but the county lines changed around them. It was then Olive township in Noble County.

The documents that I have copies of are:
-David King's death record that give his parent's names
-Same for John King
-The 1800 census that shows Meshack and his brother

Shadrach King living in Washington County, Pa
-The 1810 census that shows them in Ohio County, Va.(now WV)
-The 1820 census showing them in Sarahville, Union Township, Monroe County, Ohio.
-The 1826 Monroe County Tax record that shows Meshack, John and Thomas.
-The 1830 census of those 3 in Monroe County.
-The 1840 census of John and Thomas.
-The 1850 of Shaderach and Elizabeth.
- Thomas and John's mention in "Our Ancestor's Way" by Timothy Smith
- Same in "Kith N Kin" by Flavil R. Miller

So now lets hear from other researchers and solve the mystery of where these boys came from.

ABSOLUM DAVID KING that is all the information I have. Some family say he was born in Illinois, while others say they do not know. He married MARY ADDIE GILBERT who was born in Texas and no other information. I estimate that ABSOLUM WHO WENT BY AS DAVID was born between 1870-1885 since my grandfather Richard Howard King who went by as Howard King was born in 1911 Winslow County, AK. I do not know his birth order. If his name shows up on one of your ancestor's children, please let me know. Thank you.

Grief KING was the 7th child of Henry KING and Sibbilah TALLEY.

Henry KING was born in 1740 in Amelia, Virginia. In 1768, in Amelia, Virginia, he married Sibbilah. They had the following children:
Rachel, b. 1771
Henry, b. 1772
William, b. 1774
Daniel, b. 1776
David, b. 1778
Edith, b. 1780
Grief, b. 1782 m. Frances HARPER
Sibbilah, b. 1784. They were all born in Amelia, VA.

I've heard rumors that a Henry (this Henry perhaps?) was related to Meshack.

My great-great-grandfather, Thomas E. Needs (1832-1906), was married in about 1853 to Margaret L. King (1834-1888). It is believed by other Needs researchers that Thomas E. Needs is the brother of John Needs who was married to Elizabeth King, the daughter of Meshack and Mary King.

I don't know who the parents of Margaret L. King were. I don't find her listed among the children of Meshack King and I have never found a listing of the children of Shadrach King. If you can shed any light on this situation, I would be greatly appreciative.
