Hi Lisa
I am a descendant of the Macivers of Lewis.
Which Maciver family are you connected with?
At present I am searching for relatives in Hamilton Ontario who we lost touch with many years ago.
James Maciver emigrated from the Isle of Lewis Scotland on board either the SS Metagama or the SS Marloch in 1923 but there has been no contact since he was in touch with my mother in 1949.
Good luck in any searches you are involved with.

My husband's great-grandfather was Tolbert Ford. I believe he was the same Tolbert Ford who married Mary Ann Harbour(Harber) in Mississippi before 1860. There was a Martha Caroline Ford born 11 Feb. 1860 in Mississippi. The family moved to Cooke County, Texas and in 1879 (19 Jan to be exact) Martha Caroline, known as M. C. married James McIver (b. 4 March 1855 Alabama). The McIvers then moved to Anderson County, Texas and had seven children. I am looking for any and all info on Tolbert Ford and his wife. I have a census record from 1880 Cooke County, Texas with Tolbert and Mary A. and five children ranging in age from 16 to 9 months. The 9 month old is my husband's grandfather John Hugh Ford. James McIver was also married to J. V. Ford and had one daughter Eva. I don't know if JV was any relation to MC or not. If any of this fits with your info could you please share? I'll be glad to send anything I have that you might need. Thanks.

I am interested in the Lewis McIvers too. My ancester was Duncan McIver, who came to the Cape Fear River area of North Carolina in 1772. I am not certain he was from Lewis--our family believes he was from Skye. However, the reading I have been doing implies that the two branches of the family are related. Any information on the Lewis McIvers that emigrated to America, with dates and ships would be appreciated.

My son-in-law is descended from Frances Ann Ford and William Wood McIver. Frances is the daughter of Tolbert. Do you know who Tolbert's parents were?
