Can you help pindown the location in MD of Jacob Winterode born 20 Apr 1735 who died on 3 Feb 1797 and is buried at Christ Church, Littlestown, Adams County, PA. I show his father being a John Caspar Winterodem born 11 Dec 1705.
I am trying to locate the church for the birth of Jacob Winterode and the later baptisms of his children which should be a Reformed church near Frederick MD (perhaps Hagerstown MD or nearby Winchester VA.)
It's not clear when Wintrode researchers say Jacob was in "Frederick" what they mean. Frederick of course is the town in Frederick County, MD and Frederick County MD when created covered a large part of MD and was later split. But Fredericktown was the original name of today's Winchester, VA in today's Frederick Co. VA. I've seen Wintrode researchers say he was in Frederick VA and others in Frederick MD, likely confused by the changing state borders or the multiple Fredericks.
Three of Jacob Winterode and wife Barbara ?'s children married two sons and one daughter of a Henry Bucher/Buecher/Buger in "Frederick". The families migrated together to Littlestown, PA circa 1775, but at least two of the Winterode/Bucher couples returned to Hagerstown, MD by 1810 where they are buried.
Our research is showing a large contingent of allied families migrated together after immigration through Lancaster Co. PA to near Frederick then went north together to found Littlestown, PA circa 1765-70.
Any help in locating the church or place where Jacob Winterode or the Bucher/Bugers were circa 1735-70 is most appreciated.
