I also have a Rolfe great grandmother who lived in Maine. She lived in Clinton, Kennebec, Maine. Her name was Emma Carolyn Rolfe before she married Charles Cushman Brown. Her father's name was Edwin Townsend Rolfe. He was born in Fairfield, Somerset, Maine. Any connection to your Rolfe line?

Hi Isaac!

I was researching another family line when I came across this "The Rogues of "Quoddy: Smuggling in the Maine-New Brunswick Borderlands" by Joshua Smith . (heres the link: https://library.umaine.edu/theses/pdf/SmithJM2003.pdf ). Ebenezer Rolf is listed as having taken the oath Dec 1810. He is single, has lived there 5 years and his last place of residence was Reading, Mass. I have Rolfes from Reading and I had not run across an Ebenezer of Reading. So my search began...I found a post (perhaps from you) about how Ebenezer Rolfe held out for "Princeton" to be the name of the new town in Washington Co., ME as it was the name of the town in Mass where he was born. This would connect him with Stephen & Susanna (Stewart) Rolph of Princeton, MA. A Gary Rolph, on the Rolfe listserv wonders if Stephen & Susanna's son Stephen relocated to Reading.....(or if he was the son of Daniel & Martha (UNK) Rolfe, bpt 1750 in Reading)

Do you know all the names of Ebenezer & Nancy's children?
Laurie

Thanks Laurie for the reply. I have been unable to find Ebenezer ' Rolf' Rolfe parentage, so I am not certain exactly of who his mother and father really are. Here are some web links of previous queries:

Hi!
I have a suspect Ebenezer is related to Stephen Rolph of Princeton. I descended from Daniel Rolfe of Reading and I do not know who his parents are. So when I saw that the last place Ebenezer lived was Reading, and your posts about Princeton, I started to look into the relationship of these two families....(there does not appear to be one at this time). Here is a link I posted to the other day... https://www.ancestry.com/boards/surnames.rolph/73.2/mb.ashx

Stephen (Jr) Rolph seems to fall off the records. I find 2 Stephen's in the 1800 census, one in hillsboro, NH and one in reading....so we are dealing with 2 stephens. If stephen in NH is the son of Daniel (i can prove he was there) then who is the stephen in reading??? and as you see, stephen in reading has sons, approximately the same age as Ebenezer....but sadly Ebenezer did not leave (or maybe he did) a clue in the names of his children (in other words, he did not have a stephen) I say this may be a rabbit hole worth going down. Stephen Sr. left quite a bit of documents behind.
