Greetings! Back in the mid-70's or a bit later, you and your sister were interested in these same folks, and we are renewing our efforts. My husband, Charles Gary Pringle, is the son of the late Samuel Mayes PRINGLE, Sr. Our Sam (1904-1985) was a first cousin to your father, Samuel M.PRINGLE. I have lots of info on all these different generations, but we have never been able to prove the name of "The Immigrant" PRINGLE.
William PRINGLE stated in an ARW pension request that his father was JOHN PRINGLE. William stated his times of service, most of it with Gen. MARION.
From other papers and deeds, we have always felt that Elijah's father William (who married Elizabeth MCCOY) was the son of another William (who married Mary MCCOY). This William (wf. Mary)was the one who made the above-mentioned pension request, naming his father as John PRINGLE.
If there were or were not two William's, please send proof that your thoughts on the matter are correct - this is an invitation to anyone reading this. It would be wonderful for all of us to have proof concerning the one or two William PRINGLEs.
Just for info: Elijah PRINGLE had two daus. by Frances MCCOY (1st wf.): Isabella Jane and Sarah. [See Redden MCCOY's will; father of Frances]. Rebecca Frances MCBRIDE was the dau of James MCBRIDE and Elizabeth ???, and was first md. to Samuel M. WITHERSPOON by whom she had 2 children: Robert and Dobbin (female). I know of no BULL connection; please let me know abt this.
I have almost 40 yrs. of info on these folks and other lines related to them (MAYES, CLARKE, HOLLOWAY, ETC.); and I am happy to share with anyone who is connected!

I look forward to hearing from you!
Dolores M. Pringle
SEEKING INFO ON ALL PRINGLES, BUT ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM SC, AND EVEN MORE ESPECIALLY, THE PARENTAGE OF JOHN PRINGLE, FATHER OF WILLIAM, SPOUSE OF MARY MCCOY

My name is Fred B. Pringle and I am a descendant of Abraham and Isham K. My GGrandfather was William Elijah Pringle. His first born son Was my grandfather James Kennerly Pringle. His name is incorrectly listed in some places as James Kennida. Records from other related families in Limestone and Falls Counties, Texas confirm this.
You may already know all this, but thought I would touch base with you and see if I could learn more about the Pringle bunch,

Hi, Fred,
Yes, I do have info on Abraham as he was a son of the Sumter Pringles, AND he left SC first for FL, then for AL. I don't have access to all the info at this moment; but I think a couple of researchers may be able to help you more; they are both descendants of Abraham. Their names are Carolyn and Leon. Both have researched the Abraham branch more than I. Consequently they have more info. Maybe they will read this message and get in touch. Otherwise, I will look for their email addresses and let you know when I find them. Thanks!

Hi Dolores,
Have made some contacts but still have not found anyone with the family bible. Have continued to research but as you..... cannot verify the one or two Williams yet. Is it possible for me to send money and have you copy your family bible for me....or somehow get a copy?
I did visit the small family cemetery beside the Mayewood School outside of Sumter. It is is the back yard of an elderly gentleman who says he used to keep it up. It is totally overrun and I would love to sometime fix it up. The Redden McCoy that was most famous is buried there and someone replaced his headstone with a big nice one. the rest of the stones are old. Good to hear from you. Let me know about the bible. Thanks, Linda

Dolores,
Is it possible for me to get a copy of the Pringle family bible that you have. I know yours is a copy as well. I have contacted all relatives that might have the original and have come to a dead end. I would be glad to send you the money to copy family information listed in it. Our family would love to see the entries. Thanks for any help on this. I can call you or email if it would help. Thanks, Linda Pringle Owings

Linda,
It is always good to hear from a PRINGLE! I will be happy to send you a copy of the pages. There were no "publication" pages as they appeared to have disappeared years ago. My father-in-law, Samuel Mayes Pringle, Sr., borrowed the Bible from a woman who was a distant cousin and lived out of state. This was so long ago, and I was just getting names, names, etc. and not too knowledgeable about documentation so I didn't worry.
As an aside, we have a precious PRINGLE grandson, just turned two, and are expecting a new grandaughter, named Mayes Elizabeth Jefferies UNGER, (and she will be called Mayes), any day. I am in Charleston for our daughter's b'day, yesterday, and just staying a day or so extra to see what happens and maybe I won't have to hurry back from Myrtle Beach. SOOOOOO, I am not at home. I should be there in a few days as I don't think Betsy is going anytime real soon. If you will send your address to pringle71@yahoo.com or PringleFamilyofSC1@yahoo.com, I will send it to you ASA I get home.
I have been concentrating on the PRINGLEs lately and working on the families buried out at Concord, and I've sort of worked my way backward. I found some additional dates of another William's death looking back over some papers and believe that it may prove there was William husb. of Mary McCOY and William (their son) who md. Elizabeth MCCOY. Elizabeth was the sister of Redden MCCOY and Redden married Susan PRINGLE.

Susan PRINGLE is buried at the little cemetery behind Mr. FINCHER's house as well as their brother John PRINGLE who md. Elizabeth NEWMAN (they left four daughters; no sons). I want that cemetery cleaned up so that the PRINGLES buried there could have some kind of small markers added for them. I used to be able to purchase them fr. one guy in the Upstate for $25 - not too long ago. Susan PRINGLE MCCOY needs her graved marked as Redden is her husband and has a nice DAR marker. John was killed by slaves one day, so family legend has it,while working on the banks of the Black River. I cannot find documentation of this, but he did die somewhere about his early 40's. One of their girls married a FOXWORTH and this brings in a FOXWORTH tie to the PRINGLES.
I have also done a good bit of research on the first wife of Elijah PRINGLE (#1)'s first wife, Francis MCCOY. They married abt 1819; Isabella Jane was born 1820; Sarah was born abt 1823-1824. Sarah's birth coincides pretty closely with Francis' death. Elijah married Rebecca Frances McBRIDE WITHERSPOON 1825 or 1827, acc. to an estate sale on her first husband's estate. Sarah must not have lived long but Isabella Jane was living when Redden McCOY, her grandfather, wrote his will. There is nothing further on her, although the general feeling is that she died as a young girl. I am still looking!!!
The PRINGLE Bible has a couple of very poorly copied pages. They are some early family lists of children, and I tried to decipher the handwriting and typed them up. I will send you both copies and you can see if you agree with me.
Good to hear from you, and I am sorry I didn't get to you sooner! Let's just say my life is a bit crazy.

Linda,
Also thought of this, we have ARW papers (requesting a pension) by William PRINGLE in which he states that his father was John PRINGLE. This would have been the William who I think is the first William (husband of Mary MCCOY), father of William who md. Elizabeth MCCOY. It does not tell us the wife's name, John's location, etc. just his name as the father of William. It's a piece of great info, but it has not helped me either!
More later,
Dolores Pringle
