My grandmother, Sadie Hopps (maiden name Sarah Ann Barnes) was manager of this store during this time. I am trying to find a phone directory with the exact address. The store was located almost across from what was then Epiphany Lutheran Church.

My Great-Grandfather George Hopps owned and operated Hopps Hardware further down on 7 Mile, across from Palmer Park, during the 1920's. Any info re this also appreciated.

Please contact me direct with info at

Much Thanks!

Ooops!

The CREAMERY was on 7 Mile with Havannah on the LEFT and Woodward several streets to the RIGHT. The Brown family home was situated almost across the street, also. It was a large home on a large lot.

HOPPS HARDWARE was on WOODWARD, between Seven and Six Mile -- and I correctly stated it was across from Palmer Park.

Sorry!

I have now learned the address of the Creamery -- it was 538 West Seven Mile.

If you have any add'l info about the Brown family, the creamery, or Hopps Hardware, please contact me direct at LibralLady@aol.com

Thanks!

I remember the 4 gallon glass bottles in an iron carrier w paper tops to open.
The creamery was on the same side of Green Field Union
School.
Gee what a memory of so long ago.

I lived on 7 mile and Charleston on Hollywood St. Attended Greenfield Union Elementary School. I remember so many hot summer evenings when it was such a treat for my mother and father to walk with my brother and I to Browns Creamery for an ice cream. They only had 3 flavors then, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. It was so good, thick and creamy. Brings back alot of memories

Hello, I lived on Danbury and went to Greenfeild Union too, sometime between 1951 and 1955. I remember watching the milk men unhitching the horses in front of the store and the horses would go around back of the creamery to their spot in the stable. Do you remember the hose drawn milk wagons? A man down the street from us was a milk man. They also had cherry ice cream too. Great ice cream.
