I am looking for information concerning William R. COX who was named in 1828 as the father of an illegitimate child borne by a widow named Luvicy HUNTER. Luvicy (maiden name unknown) was born in 1799 in South Carolina. She was the widow of Jesse HUNTER who died in Limestone Co., AL. on 8 December 1824. Jesse and Luvicy had 4 children, she then had two more after his death and in 1878 she married Henry KELLY. She died in Giles Co., TN. in 1890. I think the daughter of William R. COX and Luvicy HUNTER which was born in 1828, may have married the son of Henry KELLY, John Nelson KELLY. Does anyone know anything about the COX family or know of the KELLY or HUNTER families? I would sure love to hear from you. Thanks.

I doing research on my mother's family who were Kelleys. She was Ailene Marie Kelley. Her father was Judge Horton Kelley. His fathere was Clifford Clay Kelley. His father was William Louis Kelly. William Louis married Mary L. Bee in Giles County, I beleive, I'll have to look at my records. They moved to the Dallas TX area in the late 1800s with his other son Erskine and his daughter Iva. These families still live in the Dallas area.
I hope this helps.
If you have any info on any of the above people please let me know.

Good to hear from you. I sent you the outline of W.L.Lewis and included a picture of he and his wife. Hope you get it OK. We had a Kelley family reunion last Sunday in Fayetteville, TN where my mother lives. We had about a hundred people including two families from TX, descendents of Iva Kelley, Williams daughter. The picture I sent came from one of them. I also have a picture of a picture of Iva.
I don't have all the info from the reunion in my computer yet but am working on it. This is the first time we met any of the TX end of the family. We had almost no info on William, Iva, his daughter, or Erskine his other son. (My line are descended from Clifford Clay Kelley) .But the info is supposed to be coming soon.

I have been working on the Gregory family of Limestone County AL for several years (Hardin and sons John and Byrd), but I have just today began putting some things together. Hardin Gregory was born ca 1759 and was married twice, to Hannah Curtis and Lucretia Cox. I am not sure who was the mother of the sons, John (b 1790)and Byrd (b 1793). However, in the administration of John's estate ca 1836 by his wife, Sarah Brown Gregory, she named William R. Cox of Limestone Co AL as power of attorney to handle the estate's business in AL. This POA was filed in Pontotoc Co MS, where Sarah and her children resided at the time. Then, in Lafayette Co MS in 1847, Brown L. Gregory, s/o John and Sarah Gregory filed suit against a Paul B Barringer, administrator of the estate of William R. Cox, deceased. I have more detailed information as far as dates and book/page numbers if you are interested.

Hi, Doris,
I'm a descendant of Byrd's brother, John, so I don't have much on Byrd except the names of his two wives, and the names of his children. While Byrd remained Limestone Co., John's family moved to MS (John died ca 1836 while clearing land in MS). I'm descended from John's son, Brown Lee Gregory. I'll be glad to exchange Gregory information with you. Melissa.

Our records show that the daughter you are referring to was named Sinthia J. Hunter born on August 2, 1828. She shows up on 1830 and 1840 census. She may have had a child named James Hunter in 1846. She died Nov. 1, 1846 either from yellow fever or childbirth. She is buried at Mt. Carmel cemetary in Giles Co., TN.
