So, has anybody actually worked out where the Wileman name actually derives from? Personally I live in London and England and although I've yet to meet another Wileman that I'm actually directly related to, there obviously is allot of us aout there.

Hello Jeanette

Well I know that my father and more notably his parents originally came from Bolton and also Kendal if my memory serves me correct.

Hi there Tim my name is Mack Wileman Jr. and according to my research the surname Wile is derived asa meaning for cunning and sly and also was a common name for trappers. The man was assigned to family names during mid-evil ages as ing and son and was assigned to other family names.

Hi there, just reading through the threads. Jeanette we may be related. My great grandmother is Eliza Wileman from Sunderland South Shields, they had a rather large family and your father may be my great grandmother's brother/nephew etc?? Have a look at my family tree if that helps?

Hi Tim,

Just reading through the threads and noticed a reference to Kendal where there is a Wildman Street (d not e).

If you think there may be a connection, let me know.
