While researching the 91st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, I've found a
number of accounts of the death of Jesse B Wharton in the Old Capital
Prison in April 1862. According to them, he was about 26 years old, and the
"son of Dr. Wharton, Professor of Agricultural Chemistry in Prince Georges
County, Md.". I would be happy to hear from anyone with information about him.
If you're interested in reading the accounts of his death (both a soldier's
and several prisoners' accounts), I have transcriptions of them at http://www.alltel.net/~hi45624/cc240001.html
Thanks very much!
