Marriage & Death records Bridgeport 1880s - James Hamilton & Susan Good

Hi there,
can anyone please tell me where I should look for marriage and death records for Connecticut between 1880-1890? I am looking for the marriage between Susan Good & James Hamilton probably in Bridgeport in 1880 or 1881.
Also, the death of James Hamilton between 1885-1888.
I've been looking for years and can't find anything, so could use some advice as where to look next. We know they were there in Connecticut as we have them on the 1880 census and we have a letter from them sent to family in New Zealand. We have found the baptism of two of their children. Also, Susan is listed as a widow in 1887 in the Bridgeport city directory. By 1901 Susan is married to Alexander Derry.
Thanks for your help, Cerian

Vital records prior to 1897, if they exist, are held at the vital records office of the municipality where the event was recorded. So if you haven't already done so, a good place to start would be to visit the vital records office in Bridgeport:

If you haven't done onsite research in CT, note that you have to be a member of a recognized CT-based genealogical society in order to access the records yourself.

Alternatively, you could pay them $20 per record to do a search for you.

You can also check the records familysearch.org. They have recently (in the past few months) scanned the microfilm for many towns/cities in Connecticut. Bridgeport's records are at this link. https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&.... The records are not indexed so you will have to scroll through them.
