There were two families of the Schuyler Name in NJ about 1710 and the next family to come was from Germany in abt. 1740's and they spelled their name differently until they hit NJ. The info I have is from the Schuyler's of NY ( Dutch Descent) I tried to separate the two families, but was such a project, my cousin and I gave up. Your ` Schuylers' sound like the other ` Schuyler's' not from NY. I don't have much on these Schuylers ( not from NY). I wish I could help you more. Sue

My entire family is from Jefferson County. (Which includes Three Mile Bay etc.. which you named...) I am sure that this must be the line beacuse of the area. It's exact. It can't be a coincidence. Lanah is the only Schuyler name that I know. The Samantha that I named was an Adams. Here is the only info that I have.
Simeon Adams married Lanah Schuyler (dates unknown). Their Children are:
Margaret Anne Adams
b. may 12 1850 in Kane County, Illinois
d. March 30 1931 Clayton, NY
Samantha Adams
b. 1853 in ???
d. 1931 in Rosiere, NY
If we assume that Lanah was in her 20's when she had the girls above - then her birth would have been in the 1830's. Recent research by a volunteer in Jefferson County turned up obits and a marrige announcement for Margaret and maybe Simeon and Lanah's marriage announcement. (When I get the stuff in the mail I may know more...there was alot of things that the volunteer found and she did not list all that she found only refrences to some.
I have planned a trip to Jefferson County/Thousand Islands in the spring to find out more info. I hope this clears things up. My grandmother did say that we are related to a Peter (maybe Peiter?) Schuyler who was Lord Mayor of Albany. My grandmother said that they were some sort of relation (how we are related she did not know) and that Peter was Dutch. Are you related to him too?

Hi Heather!
I decend from Phillip Schuyler, ( Dutch descent of NY) founder of Schuylers here. I believe the Samantha you are looking for is on the brother's side: David. They are the only one who used the name of ' Samantha'. There was a Peter Schuyler who was mayor of Albany, NY, which would make Samantha a niece, or cousin to him. Mayor Peter Schuyler was from Phillip Pieterce Schuyler's family ( founder).
Good luck on the researcher, maybe she can help you pin point more dates and stuff. I hired a researcher in St. Louis to do some searching on my G-Grandparents. They have been a great help.
