Thanks for all the info. I have done a bit of research and have Elias Jackson Marett's civil war records. I love this family and will continue to keep plugging along. Do you have anything beyond Benjamin Marett b. abt 1740 m. Jodie Harbin? No one does that I know of. How do you descend?

The earliest Benjamin Maret was born ca 1750 in York Co., VA; believe died in 1830.
His father was a John or Jean Maret of York Co., VA. (or as early York Co. records was one Jean Marot, a French Huguenot, who emigrated to America in 1700. By 1704, this Jean Marot was a Secretary to Col. William Byrd at Westover, VA - his age was 27 years and his wife's name was Anne. In 1705 he became a Tavern owner at Williamsburg, VA and there he was killed in the Fall of 1717. His Will (dated 31 Aug 1717) was proven 16 Dec 1717 in York Co., VA however, his only heirs mentioned were wife, Anne, three daus, Edith, Anne and Rachel.
