I am the great-granddaughter of Oliver and Belle. I am the granddaughter of Latha and Ethel Jane. My mother was their only daughter, Annie May. My name is Linda Jean. (Is this Sylvia, Ace's daughter?)I really would like to hear from you. Oliver and Belle were either married in Illinois or Texas, but I am not really sure but I will try to find out for you. Get back to me soon, ok? It has een forever sinve I have heard from any family. One thing you could try is to call Little Dan, Aunt Mattie and Uncle Dan's son. As far as I know he is still on the ranch in Animas and is in the phonebook or was last time I talked to him. Let me know what you find out, ok?

Hello Uncle Floyd,
Here is our family history as compiled by me with help from statements from your sister Jeanette Perry, pictures from your sister Marie Perry Page, documents from your cousin, Annette Perry Shipman from our trip to Fowler, Benton County, Indiana in the 1980's, a gift subscription to and many trips to the Allen County Public Library!!
It is by no means complete, but enjoy what I have been able to gather for now!!
The most challenging part was finding all the information under the different spel1ings of Caillouette - there were as many spellings as there are letters in the name!!

Record provided by possible shirttail relative in Canada - J Philippe Huppe de LaGroye.
Joseph Caillouette and Nathalie Saindon Caillouette in Canada with their 15 children. Their 12th child, Thomas Caillouette forms our branch of the family tree.
1854 - Joseph and son Hilaire Caillouette purchase adjacent farms in Illinois. Confirmed with Illinois Public Land Purchase records.
1860 US Census - Joseph Caillouette family - Beaverville, Iroquois Co. IL.
Civil War Service Records:
Four brothers - Hilaire, Olivier, Thomas and Benjamin Caillouette - enlist in the war and survive. Three of them - Hilaire, Olivier and Thomas meet at the battle of Vicksburg, Mississippi, late in 1862 and early 1863. The fourth - Benjamin - enlists in 1865 for campaigns in Tennessee and Georgia. Confirmed with military history records.
1866 – Thomas Caillouette and Emma Lemieux are married at Maternity Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Bourbonnais, Kankakee County, Illinois. Confirmed with church and state records.
1870 US Census - Joseph and Nathalie Caillouette living alone - Iroquois Co. IL.
1870 US Census - Thomas and Emma Caillouette and Family - Iroquois Co. IL.
1871 - Thomas Caillouette purchases land adjacent to father and brother. Confirmed from Illinois Land Purchase record.
1880 US Census- Thomas Caillouette family in Benton Co. IN with your mother, Elizabeth, as a baby!
1885 -Emma Caillouette dies in Earl Park, Benton Co. IN and is buried in Beaverville, Iroquois Co. IL. No death record or other confirmation at this time.
1886- Thomas Caillouette dies in hospital and is buried in Beaverville, Iroquois Co. IL.
Confirmation letter from hospital
Probate gives guardianship of younger children to others. Copy not ordered yet.

Hi there Perry!! I am happy to have gotten an answer so soon as well! I am very interested in any info that you have on the family. I may have some that you may be interested in as well. I am not sure if you will be comfortable with it yet but I would like a more direct way to stay in touch and pass info back and forth. My e-mail is and my cell # is 1-218-280-7254. Feel free to call me anytime. I don't have a computer at home so have to come to the library and the more direct contact would be lots easier for me! I am disabled and don't work so time or the day is not an issue. I am almost always up late at night as well!! I look forward to hearing from you in which ever mode you are ok with!!! Take care and God bless!!

Hi, I am related to your family through my 2nd Great grandfather, Alfred Godfroi Caiillouette who lived in Beaverville, Illinois. He was my grandmother, Macel Caillouette's grandfather.

She once told me a story many years ago that had been written in a genealogy books her mother wrote about Alfred [who they called Godfrey] going to visit a brother in New Orleans at the outbreak of the war and he was told to either join the confederacy and fight or spend the war in jail in New Orleans. So said he fought for the south even though his brothers; Hilaire, Olivier, Thomas and Benjamin Caillouette all fought for the north. I have my doubts about this story.

I cannot find a brother who would have lived in New Orleans and I find no war record about Albert for either the north or south. I thought maybe he was confused and it was an uncle he visited, but I can find no uncles in New Orleans either.

Have you ever heard a story like this on your family's side?
