I saw your message on the internet about John Hoffman and Henry Huffman -- I assume you mean the ones who came from Germany (Siegen) in 1714 to Virginia.

My family is related to one of these two brothers, but I have been unable to fill in a few gaps.

My grandmother was Otelia Huffman, married to David Nathaniel Embrey.

Otelia's parents were William David Huffman and Sarah Elizabeth Monroe.

David Huffman's parents were John Huffman and Delilah (?).

The John Huffman who married Delilah is descended from one of two brothers who came in 1714. However, I have been unable to make the link from my great great grandfather John Huffman to one of the two brothers.

I have, however, been able to trace the brothers back to their ancestor, Heinrich Hofmann, who was born in 1505 in Eisern, Germany.

If you would like to share information, please feel free to contact me at this e-mail address.

I saw your post about Henry Huffman and was curious if there
could be a connection to my relative buried in Elk Prarie,Mo. but born in Culpeper, VA. 5/8/1798 (4/8/1797??). The original immigrant was called Henry Huffman. I would also like to know more about the tracing back to 1505. Thanks, and would be glad to share what little I have on this end. Alfred was married to a Sarah Jane Jones who was married the first time to her cousin Mr. Thomas C. Jones. Her maiden name was also Jones. Alfred died 5/12/1869. Sarah Janes was born 6/10/1810 and died 1/26/1869. Sorry but I'm more or less just getting started.

Hello - I'm related to the Huffman family only by marriage, however, my maiden name was Monroe and I was born in Stafford. Also I have Coppage ancestors. Can you tell me more about Sarah Elizabeth Monroe or other Monroe's or Colppages associated with the Huffman family?

I am researching the daughter of my ggg-grandfather, John Hefflefinger, of Henry County, VA. In his will proved in 1809 he specifies that his daughter, Elizabeth Boyer or Royer, have her share of the inheritance held in trust for her so that her husband can not access it. By the time his estate is settled in 1819, Elizabeth has remarried to someone named "Huffman" and had a daughter, Sallie. By 1820 she is living in the household of her brother, Jacob Hefflefinger, and in 1830, another of her brothers. She later purchases land from her brother Jacob and in her will gives all of her estate to her daughter, Sallie, to be held in a trust and does not give control of it to her son-in-law, Freeman Wells.

I have not been able to locate a marriage bond or marriage record for Elizabeth Hefflefinger Boyer/Royer Huffman in either Henry County, Virginia or Rockingham County, North Carolina. I have been unsuccessful in identifying the name of her Huffman husband or determining whether or not he had died and left her a widow. Elizabeth signed the settlement of her father's estate where as her sisters' husbands signed in their place, which indicates that she was a widow by 1819 especially since she is living in the home of her brother on the 1820 census.

Any information on the Huffman line that would give me some insight into this person in my family would be greatly appreciated.
