WILLIAM ROBERTS b. 1765 m. CATHERINE ROGERS,
dau. of DOSWELL ROGERS. These folks came from the
Grayson/Henry Co. area of Va. and settled the Blackwater
area of Lee Co. ca. 1780's.

Children of Wm. and Catherine (Rogers) Roberts:
-James b. ca. 1785 m. Patience PRIDEMORE
-William b. ca. 1786 m. Nancy PORTER?
-Thomas b. ca. 1789 m. Margaret (?)
-Joseph b. ca. 1790's m. Margaret ANDERSON
-John m. Margaret (WALLEN?)
-Jesse b. 1804 m. Nancy JAMES
-Emanuel b. ca. 1805 m. Lucy (?) (supposedly Cherokee)
-Susan b. ca. 1810 m. Jesse ROBINETT
-George B. b. ca. 1813
-Elizabeth m. Adenston ROGERS
-Mary m. LAWSON

It is believed that WILLIAM ROBERTS b. 1765 was son of
WILLIAM ROBERTS b. ca. 1730 and ELIZABETH WALLEN,
dau. of ELISHA WALLEN b. 1708 and MARY BLEVINS.
Can anyone substantiate this? Thanks

Roberts

Hello. I am seeking information on a complaint filed in the superior court of law and chancery for Lee Co. Va..it appears according to a paper i have in Chancery Order Book 1--1832-1868--page 90.. It is a suit re-filed by my gggrandfather Edley Rogers and his brothers and sisters concering rights to land on Blackwater and an intrest of Blackwater saltworks..their father Joseph Rogers had it seems made a deal with Old William Roberts for this land but Joseph died before title was changed to his name.. His widow Susannah filed the orginal in 1819 and settled out of court..the complaint is against Both Roberts and Rogers and Lawsons... Susannah had by this time remarried a James Walling... Has anyone run across this?

Any chance that -Thomas b. ca. 1789 m. Margaret ?
from your list might be the parents of Celia Roberts who married Thomas Gibson in Claiborne Co., TN in 1859? They lived in Hancock Co., TN but both were from VA. He was from Pittsylvania Co., VA.

I found a Margaret in Lee Co. VA in 1850 but she appears to be the widow of Joseph Roberts.

219, 232, Emanuel Roberts 26, Nancy 23, Martha 25, Mary 23, Lawson 1, Joseph 23

227, 240, Margaret Roberts 45, Jesse 26 owns RE, Susan 24, Lucy 22, Elizabeth 20, Nancy Roberts 18, James 16, George 14, Claborne 12, Mary 10, Kissiah 8, Rebecca J. 6, One of these older girls is probably the wife of Jesse Roberts. Might one or two of the youngesters be grandchildren?

I found another Margaret in Hancock Co., TN in 1860 with a different set of kids.

612, 587, Margaret Robberts 59 mill keeper, Margaret Jr. 22, Malinda 31, Thomas 19, John 15

613, 588, Emmanuel Robberts 36, Mechanic, Nancy 34, Martha 14, Mary 12, Lazarus 10, Henry 4, George 1

The only thing they had in common was that Emanuel & Nancy Roberts were a neighbor to both.

My Celia had siblings Malinda, Margaret Jr., Thomas, John (died at Andersonville). Possibly more. I am not sure of any of these siblings except Malinda. Celia shows up in one census as Sally.

Hi Cathy, this is me, Katy. I have decided that the Margaret in Lee Co. in 1850 is a different person (widow of Joseph or Hugh Joseph?) than the Margaret in Hancock Co. in 1860. I think the Hancock Co. Margaret is mine. She must have been a widow because there is no husband.

Has anyone been able to advance their research on these Pryor's through paper trail or Ancestry DNA? I have the following I've been able to show relationships:

Rachel Roberts b. abt. 1810, perhaps married to a Roberts. Later wife of Moreman Lawson. Lived in Lee Co VA, Hawkins Co TN, Hancock Co TN, and Pulaski Co KY.

Wallen Roberts b. 1820 + wife Dorcas Smith Lived in Hawkins Co TN, Hancock Co TN, and Pulaski Co KY.

Margaret Roberts b. about 1805, perhaps married to a Roberts. Lived in Lee Co VA

Franky (or Frances) Roberts who married Caleb Todd in 1817 in Madison Co.
