My husband's family owned a pharmacy in Havana, Cuba for a number of years. We've traced Julio's father's family back to his great grandfather but we have no dates.
Ancestors also lived in Isle de Pinos and Matanzas. I've put the info on the internet along with some photos.

My grandfather, Jose Francisco Serra Otero, was born in Matanzas, Cuba in March of 1868. His father, Francisco Serra Mendez was a pharmacist and, we think, was born in Matanzas Cuba. We know that eventually, the Serra side of the family came from catalunia and the name Lloret de Mar rings a bell, but we do not know at what point they came from Spain. In the 1890's, my grand father moved to Isla de Pinos and married Francisca Bayo Garcia de Prado, the Daughter of Captain Manuel Bayo Balager, from Alciras, Spain. They had seven children, one of whom was my father Julio. They moved to Havana in the 1910's and owned a pharmacy until shortly after the Revolution. My grandfather died in March 1958. As I was growing up in Cuba, my grandfather never mentioned any relatives on the Serra side of the family, and we thought we were the only Serras in Cuba. Do you have any more information than what you have shared, Teh link below, to my wife's genealogy page shows a picture of my grandfather circa 1896.

Dear Nannette:

My greatgrandfather was Manuel Serra Font, from Lloret de Mar in Cataluna Spain. He came to Cuba in the mid 1800's and married and settled in the Havana province, I believe in Jibacoa.

My grandfather was the second male child and I know we had family in Havana. Your family and mine are probably of the same roots.

Please let me know if you would be intersted in a more in debpth discussion.

Thanks, Ed Serra

I am looking for information on my father's family from Cuba.
I saw your posting for GOURE. My grandmother's name was Ramona Rivera Goure. Unfortunately, I do not have information as to where or when she was born. Goure was her mother's surname, however I do not know her parent's full names. She married my grandfather,
Carlos Lopez-Calleja Salazar. I don't know if there is any connection, but I thought I'd take a chance! Thank you for your time.

One of our relatives, a Jesus Cordova, worked for many years at a pharmacy in old Havana called Pharmacia Sarran (sic). Could this be your family's business? Please let me know. I have been trying to find Jesus, would appreciate it if you have some information, even if small. Thanks.
