Hello Terra,

My name is Frederick Mobley III, I am an AFRO-American. My father Fred Mobley, was born in Aiken, South Carolina, in the late 1900's. Maybe we can help each other find what we are both looking for, our family heritage.

Once you reponde to this message we can get into more detail.

Respecfully yours

Hi Terra,

How is your search going? I haven't chat with you in a while. I haven't forgotten about you.

I found four Albert Mobley in the SC Death Index. I obtained this index from the SC History Room (Charleston).

I visited the Lancaster County Courthouse in Lancaster, SC. The courthouse is very resourceful in looking for Africian-American Mobleys.

I have found marriage cert on my family in the year of 1911.

Please let me know if your are still doing your research. If we had more detail maybe we can find the link.

Hi there,
Thanks for replying to my query. I am still researching my family tree. I did see the Albert Mobleys in the SSDI but they were to young to be my Albert Mobley. He is my great great grandfather so he had to be born in the 1800's because my graet grandmother was born in 1906 I believe and there were several siblings before her. Thanks again for responding to my message and for the Lancaster, SC information. I hope to be able to get down to SC one day to further my research. Please keep me in mind if you come across anything that you think will help me. TERRA

Hi Jill,
The Mobleys come from Rockhill, York County, SC. My great great grandfathers name was Albert Mobley. His wife was Eliza Galvin or Calvin. He owned land in Rockhill. He had children named Roosevelt, Otis (still living) William, Albert, Equlear (my great grandmother), Creola, Ophelia, Mae Robbie, there are more but I am not sure of their name. I have a picture of him he was tall and light brown skinned with huge hands. According to my grandfather he was well respected by whites and blacks. He remarried after my great great grandmother died. No children came from the second marriage.
