Justice Family

I am looking for information regarding David and Elizabeth (Bryant) Justice. They are listed in the 1880 Putnam County census. Their children were James, Lemuel, William, John, Eddie, Charles, and Clarissa. The census also shows that David's mother, also named Elizabeth - age 77 was living with them in 1880. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have any idea where any of the Justice family are buried. I know that some of the family moved on to Missouri, but I was hoping to find cemetery information on the older ones. Thanks.

David Justice is my great-grandfather. His son Lemuel and Lemuel's wife Hester are buried in the Sugar Grove Methodist Church cemetery in Edgar County, Illinois along with the children of John Henry Justice (Albert Lindsey Justice and Cora A. Justice Hamilton).

David's son John Franklin died around 1919; don't know where. But John Franklin's children moved to Paris, Lamar County, Texas. You may find some buried in the cemeteries there.

I think David is related to George Justice, also living in Putnam County at the same time as David. George is a descendant of Johan Gustafsson who arrived in the New Sweden colony founded on the Delaware River in 1643. (Gustafsson was anglicized to Justice.) An Ancestry DNA test showed me to be 20% Scandinavian, which made no sense at all to me until I traced George Justice back to Johan Gustafsson.

I ran across some information on John Henry Justice while searching for info on my great-grandfather David Justice. The George Justice family living in Putnam Co. beginning in the 1830s moved there from Tazewell, Va. In the 1820 Census for Tazewell, George has a son under 10 (no name given). In the 1830 census for Putnam Co., Ind. George has a son between 15 and 19. Indiana marriage records show that Hiram Justice married Ann Vest in 1833 in Putnam Co., Ind. Since George's family is the only Justice family residing in that county at the time, I think Hiram is George's son. Hiram and his wife had a son named John Henry Justice. John Henry is buried in the Sugar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Edgar Co., Illinois.
The Putnam County George Justice is a descendant of Johan Gustafsson who arrived in New Sweden in 1643.

Try the Putnam Co. public library in Greencastle. They have cemetery records - possibly on line.
