Would love to help you with Mooney information. Doing research on that family line myself.

My Yalobusha Co., Mooneys were James Wilson Mooney and his second wife Lucinda O'Rear. Two of their daughters were married in Yalobusha Co., MS. Carrie (Annie) Mooney married John William Martin, September 1872, and Addie Lou Mooney married Dorsey Childress Cook, on Jan 1898 in Yalobusha Co., MS.

Sally Mooney was James Wilson Mooney's sister and she married George Towns Alford, Jan. 1881 in Yalobusha Co. Sally and George are my great grandparents. Sally and James father was Elbert Mooney and wife was Sarah McColister.

Most of my Mooneys were born in and around Jasper, Walker Co., AL. with this family being the group that was in and out of Yalobusah Co.

It is my Crews line that is so established in Yalobusha Co. The Crews line did marry into the Mooney line...

If I can be of any help would enjoy exchanging information. Maybe we can work these family lines out.

Good luck!
Roline Crews Askew

The YALOBUSHA COUNTY MOONEYS that I am concerned about are William 1785-? and his wives, ? and Catherine 1805-?. With his first wife, he had sons Charles (b. ca.1815) and John (b. ca. 1815). There were at least three other sons. Children of William and Catherine were Emiline (b. 1831), who married George Purnell; James (b. 1843); Rufus (b. 1846); and Jasper (b. 1852). Do you have information on any of these?

My husband's line goes through a Willaim Patrick MOONEY,
born in Yalobusha Co. Miss. about 1846 to Charles H. MOONEY
and wife Elizabeth ?. William Patrick married Savanah J.
THREADGILL daughter of Andrew J. THREADGILL. Charles,
Elizabeth, and William Patrick were in Texas by about 1848,
because the rest of their children were born in Texas, starting with Thomas Butler MOONEY. Could Charles be a son
of William and his first wife?

There is quite definitely a connection! Have you also
followed Don Hill's threads on the Mooney Family Genealogy
Forum on GenForum? He is also part of the same family.
I need to get off to both of you what I have, with the caveat that my database still has problems that need to be
cleaned up. With all of the virus/worm problems in the
net recently, would you prefer a GEDCOM or snail mail? Let
me know.
