Hello,

I recently found out that Annie Maples Vantassel (my GGM) was buried in a pauper's grave. I assume somewhere in Hardin Co. The Find a Grave site stated that her grave was unmarked. I would like to find her gravesite and put a marker on if possible. Can anyone help? Juanita

Contact the cemetery. Cemeteries keep "plot" information, and whether or not there is a headstone/marker. Then you can work with the cemetery on how to order one.

I did this some years ago for one of my ancestors.

FYI - headstones are not cheap!

I have called several libraries in the area and cannot find any information about the location of a Pauper's gravesite. There is a Pauper's Rd in Elizabethtown and that is closest I can get to it. Thank you for your reply. Juanita

Sorry, I did not realize you did not have a cemetery name.

Have you reached out to any of the genealogical groups for that area? They may have some information on those types of cemeteries. It is also possible that there was not one in this county, but maybe a surrounding county had one, and she could be buried there.

Sorry I could not help.

Good luck!
