Greetings

I may have interest in the African American Callion Family
of Morehouse Parish LA.

We are a African American Family, and have a connection and
marriage of a Callion in New Orleans in the 1860's.

I am wondering if the above family came from New Orleans,
or Arkansas and any info that maybe available.

Could someone also give me the telephone and person of
the Morehouse Parish Genealogical/History Society for
further research.

Thankyou for your time and assistance.

G Johns

Greetings;
My family and I are descendents of Major Callion. My Great grandfather and brother came to north La in the 1800's from south La. Please let me know how you know about my family and if you are relatives, please advise. My Grandmother name was Pearlie Callion, daughter of Major and Emma Callion.

It appears now, that our Callion member by marriage, may not be connected to those of Morehouse Parish.
I am still have interest, as to "where" his name was from,
since born prior to the Civil War.

Hello, I am still looking for Callion family in South Louisiana. My Great Grandfather migrated from S. La., with his brothers His name was Major Callion, born around 1875. He may have left some sisters behind. He was of French descendent and it was told that their was a large family of Callions. I don't know the specific area, I am thinking, maybe LaPlace, La. Let me know what Callions you know,

Edna Richardson-Montgomery, Velma Callion Robinson Richardson, Pearlie Callion Bearfield, Major and Emma(/Watts) Callion

I am a Morehouse Parish researcher unrelated to any Callion. Your ancestors buried at St Joseph (St Joe) AME Church Cemetery, Bonita, LA, are two daughters of Major and Emma-(1) oldest daughter, Pearlie Callion Bairfield, wife of William Robinson and mother of Willie Robinson. Pearlie died as “Pearlie C. Bairfield.” Pearlie’s funeral program does not name her Bairfield husband; (2) Jannie Callion Dantzler, 4th child of Major and Emma Callion and wife of Benjamin Dantzler. She bore him no children, but they raised an adopted son, Curtis Dantzler, now deceased.
At St Joe are Velma Robinson Richardson (born 25 April 1925, d 6 Mar 1988, Monroe, LA), Dumas, Arkansas; her parents were Willie and Pearlie Robinson. In 1946, Velma married Floyd Richardson (1910-1997); bore him 5 sons--Floyd, Jr., Benjamin, Timothy, Daniel, Jackie; and 4 daughters—Callie, Ervin, Emma R. Smith-Williams, Edna, and Pearlie R. Williamson. Son, Benjamin Franklin Richardson (b16 June 1949, Bonita, LA, d 27 Nov 1988, Mer Rouge, LA) preceded his father in death. He married Mary Robinson; no children; his mother-in-law was Velma Robinson.
The obituaries of above decedents (except Major Callion, Sr., wife Emma Callion, and son, Major Callion, Jr.,) are 8 of over 500 obituaries compiled in African American Burials and Obituaries of Northeast Louisiana sold by the Family History Club, P.O. Box 1227, Bastrop, LA 71221.

Why would you think he is not related to the Callions that migrated to N. La. I found out from the daughter of Pearlie Callion Bairfield that Major Callion were Sioux Indian and french /African.
