This was my grandfather who passed in 1957. I am looking for his parents. I have papers that say he was born here but no names for his parents. All I know is where he was born. I have searched for over 8 years. Usually putting Carson in Search in anything in WA comes up wih a zero. I Need help it seems.

Do you have any more info -
Grandmother's name? age?
where did he die?
What kind of work did he do?
any brothers or sisters?

This can help to pin down a family to the correct one.

I did find a James Walter Carson, right age, but in New Jersey! Any chance this is the man?

World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Record
about James Walter Carson
Name: James Walter Carson
City: Newark
County: Essex
State: New Jersey
Birth Date: 9 Mar 1883
Race: White
Roll: 1753733
DraftBoard: 9

next of kin: Gertrude Eagle Carson

or this one??
California Death Index, 1940-1997 Record
Social Security #: 546100186
Birth Date: 9 Mar 1883
Birthplace: COLORADO
Death Date: 8 Apr 1957
Mother's Maiden Name:
Father's Surname:

If this is the right one - you can get his Social Security application for about $30, and it should have his parents on it.
Note that it says he was born in Colorado????

You should also be able to get his death cert from San Francisco if this is the right one.

Note that the birth dates are the same for both above men - possibly the same???

If this isn't the right man, more clues can help us determine the right one. :-)

Hi Janie,

If you post all you know about your grandfather it would be helpful. Birthdate? Wife's name? Marriage date and place? Occupation? Where he lived? Do you already have census information for him? Do you know whether he served in WW1?

I looked at the online Washington State Digital Archives but did not find anything conclusive. Did your grandfather go by "James", "Jim", or perhaps by his middle name?

I have found him in 1920 & 30 Census, I have him in draft registartion, I have his marriage certificate 1923 to Violet Mable Pearse, but in 1930 census shows wife as Miriam and my father James W. Carson Jr. as right age b. 1922. Grandfather J.W. Carson Sr. no known siblings. J.W.Carson Jr. no known siblings. SS reply no copy of application but sent a Request for wage record action filed 3-18-1948. no parents name, birth correct, Seattle WA.
according to draft record, in New jersey 1918 nearest relative Gerturde Eagle carson?? Marriage, Death Cert. and draft reg. were are all papers in my fathers possesion. So I know these are all true. My father never knew his mother nor did J.W. Sr ever talk about any of them. Mystery.

Is your James found in the 1920 Akron, OH, census? If so, I believe he had a brother named George E., who is also found in WW1 draft records in the same NJ town as James Walter Carson. I will contact you privately for more information on living relatives.
