Trying to locate any information on George A. Jaycox b. Feb 1856(7) in Ohio, d. 1926 and his wife Genevieve (Jennie) 1859-1946. They are buried in Bay Village, OH and it is believed they lived in Lorain County.

Hello Cathy,

I don't know if this will help at all. I am looking for the family of Charles Jaycox in Ohio. I have two of them, in fact. One of them was married to a Sarah Jane Jaycox. Charles Edward Jaycox was in Ohio on the State Great Register in 1868. He moved to Oakland Ca. in 1869. The first Charles J. was in the Ohio Infantry in the Civil War. I suspect Charles E. J. was also military but I have yet to prove it. I also believe that these Jaycox' were originally from N.Y. and poss. Va. before they moved to N.Y.

Thank you!

Hello MaryLou,

I am researching Charles Edward Jaycox
who was born in Ohio in 1840ish. He was
seventeen years old in 1860. I mention
his age because I know that there was another
Charles Edward Jaycix in Ohio, Franklin Co.,
I believe, who was married to a lady named

Hi Again Mary Lou,

I mis-spoke. The Charles married to Sara was Charles "A."
Jaycox not Charles "E." This confused me
earlier too because when Charles Edward enlisted
in the Union Army from N.Y. in 1862, there was a Charles A.
listed also. I have not been able to verify if they are

Jaycox name

Hi Marylou,

It sure is a small world. Somehow, we are related. My Dad was Plynn Jaycox, born in Avon Lake, Ohio, married Ruth Coats (my Mom), had 2 children, me (Lynne Jaycox) and my brother, Robert Jaycox. We were told that Jaycox Road was named after my Grandfather, Lewis. He married my Grandmother, Lulu Beard. Her family lived at the very end of Jaycox Road on the Lake side, where Jaycox Road begins. The house still stands. My grandmother, Lulu's sister, Flossie, lived on Lake Road a little ways down the road from them. She has relatives in the Avon Lake area, daughters, I believe.

It is interesting that you mention you are from Elyria, Ohio. I lived in Elyria for a number of years when first married. Now in Michigan for many years.

The message I am responding to is an older one from you, so maybe you have found out the information you were seeking. I don't know who George Jaycox is/was. My Dad was raised by a Mrs. Hovey, after his Mother passed away and his Father turned him over to a neighbor. Long story.

My brother, Bob, is still in Lorain, where he and I were born and reared. He has 2 children, Robert Jr. and Carol. They have all girls, so that Jaycox lineage will end there.

Don't know if you were interested in any of this or are still pursuing, but thought I would send my 2 cents anyway.

Lorain Jaycox and you mention a Lorain somethhing
in connection with Jaycox Road. I can't help but
believe that Charles Edward Jaycox is related
to these people. So we don't lose contact,

I would love any information you can share on the Jaycox family. I am a descendant of Isaiah Jaycox thru William and Mary "Polly" Ann Carter Jaycox. I have information from the national archives I would be happy to share. When William was called to serve during the Civil War (from Kansas) he had to enlist under the name JaQuash and provide documentation that the family name had earlier been changed to Jaycox. After that he and his children used the JaQuash name. It's also spelled Jayquash at times.... interesting. Look forward to hearing from you
