I am researching two COLE lines. One begins with MARY COLE, b.15 May 1758 and d. 1838. She married Henry Kline, a Patriot during the Revolution, from Livingston, NY. He was born in 1755 and died in 1840. Their daughter, CATHARINA KLINE, was born in 1794 and married George Benn, Jr. who was postmaster in Rensselaerville, NY.

Second line of COLES goes back to JOHN COLE, b. 1596 in Essex, England. He married in 1620 Sarah Deborne. Their son, HENRY COLE, b. 1627 in England emigrated to the colonies and died in Wallington, Connecticut, in 1676. He married Sarah Ruscoe who died in Saybrook, CT. I have this line forwards through another 8 or 9 generations, but I am stuck further back than JOHN.

Any long-lost cousins out there? Thanks!

Only have a John W. Cole in my line....born probably closer to 1840 than 1820. The Coles were a large family, however, and I have not found all the peripheral people yet. Can you give me more info about your John T? Was he from Portsmouth proper ....Clay Township...where?

I know of no Kentucky connection to my Coles. As for the one born in Portsmouth, common sense would tell me that there is a good possibility he might be related. My Cole branch moved on to Mercer/Henry Counties in Illinois, but there were siblings who possibly could have stayed in Ohio.

I will try and check this out. My email is Kabumpo16@aol.com.

I too am decended from Henry Cole and Sarah Ruscoe of Connecticut. I have heard that John Cole and Sarah Debourne were his parents but have never been able to find proof of this connection. If you could steer me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I would also be interested to hear from what line you are from. I am decended through Henry's son John who went to Boston and was a schoolmaster there.
Thanks, Tim Cole

Kathy,
I have just learned that I'm a long lost cousin! A recent YDNA test in my family reveals that we descend from John Cole b 1596 in Essec, England. The most likely line is through Henry Cole m Sarah Ruscoe. I have a 150 year (or so) gap between that Henry and my gggrandfather, also Henry Cole, b 26 Feb 1806 in (allegedly) Chenango, NY. Although it is unclear whether that is Chenango, Broome County or Chenango County. How much do you know about the original Henry's family. I have found his children and some of their spouses, but.....

Your lost cousin,
Jo
