I am seeking the names of John's parents. On his marriage record he lists his father's name as Richard and his mother's name as Not Known. He was from Port Hope prior to moving to London. His last known address was 528 Horton Street, London, and he is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. John is my gg-grandfather.

He is on l90l Census, but couldnt find him
in l9ll census.
checked his marriage and as you say he states
mother's name unknown.
Suggest you check with various church archives,
as ancestry does not appear to have his birth,
but there should be a baptismal record.

If you dont have his Long
form death certificate then perhaps
a phone call to Woodlawn cem. might
give you his mothers name.

Loreli, thank you so much for your help. I never thought to vary the spelling of the name!

Regarding Richard Pierse/Pearce...he and Mary had a son named John, but John was born in 1836. The John I am seeking (John Henry) was not born until 1875. Given the accuracy of the census data, I could understand a margin of error but not the 39 years between these two Johns.

I will keep looking and will use your ideas of varying names. If you would like to keep helping I would be most appreciative. Just found out a new bit of information. My father recalled that John's mother's last name was Russell, but we don't know if that was her maiden name or the name taken in a marriage subsequent to John Henry's father. There also was some talk about John Henry's parents being co-inhabitants rather than being married. The juicy things one finds out when digging into family history!

Thank you once again! Bruce

Bruce, I just started searching our family tree.

John is my grandfather who I don't really remember since he was divorced from my grandmother who died at the age of 104.

I been able to track down the name of Richard but have not other name or initials. You mentioned his wife was Mary Russell and my Dad's middle name is Russell

It would be interesting to compare notes with you
