Otis Calliham Was born in Simmesport, Avoyelles Parish, La.
He has family in Texas and Louisiana. As his grandchildren are in their 40s and 50s, I would expect he was born in the late 1800s. We are seeking his dates and his father and mother.

To James E. Calliham and other Calliham descendants. Looking for the link to James Calliham as I am the great granddaughter of Randolph Calliham whom we believe is a descendant of James Calliham of Louisiana, St.Landry/Avoyelles/Rapides Parishes.

My great-grandfather Randolph(mulatto) was born around 1872 in La., married Emma, and their children were Mary Jane, Elizabeth, Timothy, James(Jim), Benjamin. Randolph's brother Taylor(mulatto) born around 1869 was married to Lorena. Randolph, Taylor, and their other siblings are of Irish/African-American/Indian descent. Their are Callihams in Simmsport/Alexandria area.

The 1910? census shows James Calliham with grandchildren named Frank and Cleveland???

Anyone with information to this link, please respond.

Simmsport/Alexandria area produced a large number of Callihams. While some are still in Louisana, most moved to Texas. To see what little I have learned, go to:

www.calliham.com/family

James Calliham(white), who built Calco Plantation, had two recorded children, James and Cornelus both mulatto. I do not have a record of Randolph but a Randolph was mentioned by an old woman in Houston Texas a few years ago while she spoke about the old days( in Simmsport ).

Jim,
Thanks for responding so quickly. Do you know how I can get in touch with the lady? I'm hopeful someone else in the Calliham clan will be able to help as well.

Thanks again.

I have lost contact with the Callihams in Houston, TX.
The older folks tend to return to LA (near Marksville/Simmsport) to pass and be intered.
