My grandfather was Umberto Paolini. He came to Boston in 1930 from Pescano Italy after My grandmother and uncle came over.
My fathers name is Carmen Paolini . he had one brother (Dominic)that is deceased. His brother had two sons, Dominic and Joseph, who I see often. Most of my Paolini relatives settled in East Boston.
I look foward to hear from anybody that has any info on my family history.

Hi Steve,

I checked my maps and I cannot find Pescano, but I do believe you are probably looking for Pescara. Pescara is a city on the Adriatic Sea in the Province of Pescara.

There are many Paolinis in that area and my family being one of them. My family comes from Vallemare di Cepagatti. Cepagatti is close by Pescara.

Do you have any info prior to Umberto ?

Hi Linda, thanks for the reply.
I will have to ask my father about any more information regarding his grandparents. I dont think he has a lot of info, but it is worth a try.
My grandfather Umberto was a veteran of WW1. He was in a ski trooper unit and was shot twice.
The Italian consulate gave him a citation in the mid seventies acknowledging his service during war time. I am in possesion of it as well as his certificate of citizenship from 1930.
I believe the spelling of pescara was botched during the processing (like so many names!). I know he had a brother that I don't know much about, and a sister Desolina that I remember when I was very young.
I appreciate your reponse, and will look foward to hearing from you in the future.

Hi Steve,
My relatives are from the East Boston area. My father is also Steve Paolini and his father was Vincent. Vincent died in his 30's in 1959 while living in Saugus. He owned a masonry company that built many houses in the Saugus area. I do not know many people from the Paolini side of the family because my grandfather died when my dad was just 8 years old. I do know that Vincent had a brother Henry. I would love to hear more if you think there may be a connection.thanks,
Suzanne

Hello Suzanne! I'm glad you replied. I have heard of The Paolini masons and was often asked if I was related since I was in the construction business for some time. I think that your grandfather and his brother Henry were distant cousins of my fathers, I think I remember him mentioning them. I will ask my father about the specifics.
My Paolini side lived on Cottage st. for many years in the same building. There is a huge hotel constructed recently across the street from it on airport property.
I look forward to hearing from you with any more connections and I will be posting again if I find anything else out.
Tell your father that he has a cool name!
Regards,
Steve
