Would like to e-mail with anyone working on these German lines. My grandfather was Edward Louis Hille and his parents were John L. Hille and Elizabeth Horman. Her parents were Christian Horman and Huhnerkoch.

There are lots of descendents of these families in Massac county and I'd like info from anyone to fill in the blanks. I am collecting any and all data from anyone with these surnames as I'm sure they are all related.

Thank you!

Do you have "Massac Co. IL History, Vol 1"? Your names are mentioned, and there is alot of detail. Let me know if you need anything....

Yes, I don't currently have a copy of the Massac County, IL book but I have seen it. What I'm really after is to find others that are working on the same lines to see if we can get these lines past the mid-1800's back into Germany.

Thank you for your response.

Carolyn,
I don't have a "J.G.Speckman" or "Spectman" in my family, nor a Minnie. My Speckmans descend from Henry Speckmann who came to Massac Co from KY, then IN, and finally settling in Massac Co. in the 1850's.He did have 2 sons named "John"...John Christian Speckman married to an Alvine. John was born in 1837. The other son, John Henry, married an Amelia.
If you have more information, maybe that would help?? Let me know!

Does your info from Massoc Co, Ill, have anything on the Speckman/Spectman's from Germany?

J.G.Spectman, and his sister, Minnie, are in my line. I think I've found J.G's wife, Adeline, on a census. Nothing after, and nothing before.

Huhnerkoch

There are published church record books for the 3 German churches in Massac Co, IL. I abstracted any information about German-born members. I have a listing from St. John's Luthern for a Carl Huenerkoch. He was born 8 Aug. 1807 in Lohe, Uchte, Kingdom of Hannover. He was married to Charlotte Schneidemann. She was born 23 July 1820, also in Uchte. There is a Sophia Maria Scheidemann born 24 Nov 1824 in Uchte, she may be Charlotte's sister (these were hand written records, prone to errors). Also from Uchte are a number of Kruegers (August, Heinrich, Karolina, Katharine, and Louise).

If this is the right Huhnerkoch (I know the spelling is a little different, but again, the church record books are translations from the original hand-written ones, prone to error), then Uchte is where you want to look. Unfortunately the Kingdom of Hannover hasn't let the Mormons microfilm their church records yet. You'll have to write to the church record office in Hannover to get a copy of Carl's baptismal record (I've been to the record office in person, let me know if you want more info).

Best wishes,

Hi,
I am also working on the Hille Line. Mine starts with Wilhelmina Leischner married Gottlieb Hille. They were both born in Kulm, Bessarabia, South Russia According to the Latter Day Saints they settled in the Adams County, Washington area. They had 12 children. One of these children, Christian Hille also married a Marie Leischner. Let me know if any of this helps. Patti

Patti, My emigrant Hille was Johannes and he came to Cincinnati as a young man (with parents?) and then to Massac Co., IL by 1860.
