Herchelroth>Harchelrodt>Harkleroad: Heucheldeim, Germany is the route our ancestry took. My husbands family is descended, we think, from Johannes Henrich Harchleroth (or Herchelroth)/Ann Leopoldin. He fought in the Rev. War in Washington Co. VA. and his grandfather had a farm in PA. From VA. he went to TN. Now we are well established in GA. If you are interested in this lineage, please, let me know.

Hopefully the Penna connection matches...
I have a Nettie Florence Harkleroad 1866-1934 Huntingdon Co., PA married Franklin Walls
8 children

Her parents were George Harkleroad and Rachael Greenland, Geo was born circa 1830 they had 9 children
Rachael's sister Sarah married Samuel Harklerode.

The informaiton I have shows that George and Samuel's father was Samuel
does this ring any bells???

I'm just trying to find any relatives of John Paul Harkleroad. Born 11/25/20.
My father has been deceased since 1971. There are some relatives in San Diego - I'm
not sure where and unfortunately that is
all the information I have. He was the youngest of five
siblings. If anyone knows anything, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Hans Heinrich Harchelroth born 1615 in Franlkenthal, Germany married Anna Catherine Leopold born 1644 in Germany. They married in 1664. One of their children, Lorentz born April 25, 1665, married Maria Elizabetha Corpans born 1680. Lornetz and Maria had, among others, John Henry born ca 1700. He married Johanna Elizabeth Ley born 1720. John Henry and Elizabeth had a child Johan Heinrich Harkleroad born July 14, 1746. Johan Heinrich moved to Sullivan County, TN and changed his name to Henry Harkleroad. He was a Rev. War Soldier and is buried near Bristol, TN. His stone is just about gone because of the weather. Henry married Elizabeth Emmert, she was his third wife. She was born April 10, 1764 and died June 14, 1829. She is buried beside Henry. Henry died February 19, 1838. They had a son, Jacob who married Rosannah Riley. Jacob and Rosannah had a son James Henry who married Emaline Fannie Hicks. Henry and Fannie had a daughter named Susan Rosannah Harkleroad and she married James "Big Jim" Christian. Their daughter, Emma Christian married William Robert Housewright. Emma and Robert Housewright were my grandparents. I live near Bristol, TN and the land they bought when they first came to Tn. The log cabin Henry built is still standing. I hope this has helped some. I have more info about the Harkleroads in Tn and am willing to share.

The Henry Harkleroad that fought in the Rev. War was not the one who was married to Leopold. It was the Henry that was married to Elizabeth Emmert. His toombstone has him listed as a Rev War Soldier and he is mentioned in serveral books about this area. Henry, who married Elizabeth Emmert, and his brothers inherited land in PA from their grandfather.

To Gladys Owens: You have done a great deal of research. I am sure we are related. My father-in-law was born in your area. I believe his mother's maiden name was Christian. He left there when he was about eight and went to live with an uncle in GA. His name was Zenious Lee Harkleroad.
