I have a 5600+ name database, which I'm looking to add to, particularly with the GEORGE/GEORGES families that remained in Belgium.

I have some Dominicy ancestors from the village of Turpange located just south of Arlon in Belgium. I am a descendent of Andre and Anna Maria(Kalen) Dominicy/Dominici. I descend from their son Theodore and then from Theodore I descend from John Nicolas(1795-1886). John Nicolas Dominicy married Catherine Kirsch. I descend from their son Michael(1831-1908), who, with his brothers moved to Sheldon, Wyoming county, NY in about 1844. My ggggrandfather was this Michael Dominicy who "americanized" his Belgian name to Dominisse(pronounced dohm-uh-niss-ee), but I understand other members of the family changed the name to Dominesey. Michael was married to Mary Schroder and moved west to Sheboygan county, Wisconsin and then to Warren and Shelby counties in Iowa, and finally settled in Randolph, Nebraska where he is buried. Are some of these people also your Dominicy's?

When I posted my original query, it was with an email address that is no longer current. My current email is: don.george@rogers.com. Because of the way this system is set up, the system will send a note to an old non-functioning email address telling me that a post was placed here, but of course, I won't get that note. Please email me directly. Thanks.

Used to have mmi0671@ibm.net. It is now don.george@rogers.com. Old postings are too old (so I'm told) to change the email address.

I descend also from Theodore Dominicy, and then John Nicolas - but through John Nicolas' second wife Susanna Merci, and their son John (wife Elizabeth George).

I would be interested in any Dominicy/Dominici/Dominisse family history that you are willing to share.

There are so many variations on the name spelling that it is very difficult to pull the entire family history together - even siblings within the same family have different spellings of the last name. My grandmother was a "Domnissey".
