Need Help!!

Surnames: Spada, Meloni
Hi, I'm writing this for help on information on my great-great grandfather. His name was Giovanni Spada, born on October 3, 1885 in Teramo, Italy. He immigrated from Italy to Camden, Camden, New Jersey in 1910 (I think.)He died on March 9, 1954. He married Concetta Meloni in 1911 and had 5 children with her. I also must mention he went by John here in America, obviously Giovanni being the Italian version of it. His wife died very young in 1937 due to diabetes when she was 45. I've found the marriage index, the 1940 census and the 1930 census, and his gravesite but that's it!! I would really like to find his parents or even his siblings. My family has no knowledge on him because my grandmother (his grandaughter) was only 14 when he died and he didn't even speak English! Not one lick. She (my grandmother) said he would ramble on and on and she didn't understand him. If you could help that would be great!!!! Thank You.

Do you have the marriage license application......usually has parents' names.

When you do find parents this site might be useful.....you have to browse Teramo Civil records for marriage and death records, so may take awhile. There doesn't seem to be birth records available for this region.

The 1930 states Giovanni Spada immigrated in 1910.

This could be him on the this passenger ship record. Info seems to match what is known.

He is on line 17, Images 761 & 762.

Passenger list: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JJX4-82F

Having hard time reading the writing, but the transcription states his arrival contact is a cousin Ferddo Melone.

I do see a Ferdinando Melone who would be the right age to be his cousin living in Camden, New Jersey in 1910.

It looks like Michele MELONI 19 may have been traveling with Giovanni.,,he is on the line above him on passenger list. They were from, and going to, the same places.

This is interesting.

This appears to be Concetta Meloni on passenger list in 1910. Name and age matches and her destination is a Father Vincenzo in Camden, NJ. It looks like she was going to Philly and then on to Camden, NJ.

Yes. Vincent is her father and Rosa/Rose is Concetta’s mother. Her maiden name is Meloni. That was Giovanni’s wife.

Brother-in-law? But I don’t have Fernandino in Concetta’s brothers or sisters. No Alfonzo either. I don’t know how there would be a conncetipk between Concetta because they have the same last name but aren’t siblings?

They could be cousins not brother-in-laws.
