Just checking out this site. Would like to hear from other Maioranas. My people are from Messina, Sicily.

That old saying just might be right, but none the less, no harm in trying to connect with the past. Know anyone from Trapani?

My grandfather was Giovanni Angelo born 1864 in Monte San Giuliano (present day Erice), Sicily. My grandmother was Nunzia Maiorana also born in Monte San Giuliano (8 miles from Trapani). I have hit a brick wall as to Nunzia's parents who were Vincenzo Maiorana and Francesca Di Marzo both born in Trapani. Nunzia had a brother Francesco Paolo and sister Rosa. Francesco born 1864 in Trapani and sister Rosa born 1875 in Monte San Giuliano. Are any of these in your family tree?

So sorry. None of the names you give sound familiar to me, except Vincenzo. My grandmother was named Vincenza or Vincenzina Maiorana. All from Trapani.

Hi Rose,
I am sorry I did not write back sooner, it has been a busy summer. No, not that we know of. Yes, my great grandmothers maiden name was La Scala too !!
Do you have any information on your family tree for the La Scala side. I'm curious if there is some connection. Please write back.
Thank you,
Sue

My paternal grandmother was Nunzia Maiorana, daughter of Vincenzo Maiorana and Francesca Di Marzo. Nunzia was born in Monte San Giuliano (Erice) 9 miles from Trapani city. Her husband was Giovanni Angelo they had eight children of which my father was their sixth. Both families moved back and fourth between city of Trapani and Erice. A note to any researcher. I have data on every Angelo (D'Angelo), Maiorana born in Erice. Happing to provide, as a courtesy, info on any with this surname from the town of Erice.
