The Lake family are very numerous in Anguilla where they were sailors, captains, boatbuilders and owners. The name Emil repeats among the Griffith one was a well known professional boxer in the states. There is now a ball park in St Thomas named Emil Griffeth.

Hello, I noticed you were researching the Richards family. We are trying to locate my husband's g-g-grandfather, Samuel Richards who was born in Cuba in 1838. He married Louisa Thornton and they moved to Victoria, Australia sometime before 1868. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? Many thanks.

Hi, my grandmother's name was Margaret A. Griffigth (that's my mother spells her last name, but it might be the same last name) and my mother's name is Eliza Adinah West. I'm trying to locate any relatives of my grandmother and mother. My grandmother was born in Monserrat while she had my mother in Cuba. My greatgrandmother name was Sarah Ann Dyer also from Monserrat. I'm trying to find relatives of my mother's father Mr. William West or any information on him before he died. I don't have his date of birth or when he passed away. I was told that he died in Cuba before my mother was born. If you have any information on this family please feel free to contact me at the afore mention email. Thanks

The surnames involved are recognizable as some of the oldest in the Virgin Islands. Whether your Montserrat? ancestors are from these families I don't know. If you told me that you were a Dyer from St. Croix without telling me that your family was from Montserrat I would think of a family who were free St. Croix colored even before von Scholten.

Well, thanks for answering. According to what my mother told us, Margaret Ann Griffith were her mother and Sarah Ann Dyer was her grandmother and they were both from Montserrat according to what we were told. I don't have no further information concerning them.
My mother's father name was William West. That's all the information that I've from my mother Eliza A. West

Sincerely,
