I'm looking for these 2 people who livedin county Donegal, Ireland. she was born on 3/6/1823 and Denis was born in approximately 1804-1806. they were married on 6/13/1944 in Donegal, Ireland - both Catholic. They left Ireland soon after that with 2 sons, James and Anthony. There has been speculation that one of these children was born on ship.

In revisiting my genealogical data, I see that I had Patrick connected to a brother John (married to Catherine). This is the information my aunt collected many years ago:

Notes of Patricia McKenna Dougherty:
Patrick McCoy was probably born in Parish of Conwal, County Donegal, Ireland around 1800. Nothing of his family is known for certain except that he had at least one brother, John. "Native to Donegal" is on both of their Iowa tombstones. There are papers from the Clinton County courthouse showing that Patrick was legal guardian for John's minor children after John died in 18__. There is no evidence but a strong suspicion that he was related in some way to other McCoys in the Clinton area. I have had no contact with any of the Pat McCoy descendants so all of my information came from records. There are no DeWitt, IA newspaper records, so no obit for him, and there is no record of a death cert at either state or county levels.
As best I can reconstruct his life, he was born in Donegal and later lived in County Cork. (His daughter, Great Grandmother Bridget claimed County Cork as her birth place.)

1850 Naturalization papers in Philadelphia City and County
James McCoy vouched for Patrick McCoy on Patrick's citizenship papers in 1851 in Philedelphia County

Interesting that Pennsylvania comes up. I have Denis McCoy first settling in Pennsylvania - there for about 3 years. Then they traveled to Clinton County, IA and in 1866, settled in Boone, Iowa. He and his wife Hannah Gallagher left Ireland after they were married which was 6/13/1844 in County Donegal, Ireland. They lost a child by the name of Daniel when they were living in Clinton. I have their 1st son, James Thomas, born in Ireland which was 10/30/1845. I think they may have made the crossing in 1847.
