Desperately Seeking Elizabeth Teal

Surnames: Teal, Smoot
She is my great grandmother, and I can only find her when she is listed as her married name, Elizabeth Smoot. Have also found her listed as Lizzie on an early census.

She was born Abt. 1859 in Nicholas Co., KY, as far as I can tell.

She married Albert Smoot, who was born 1856 in Owingsville, Bath Co., KY, and died 13 Feb 1918 in Fleming Co., KY.

They had 7 children ... Martha Jane (my grandmother), Nicholas, Minnie L, William Elgin, Samuel, Henry Howard, and Walter.

I was always told that Albert's name was John Albert Smoot, but I found out that he had a brother named John Smoot, and that his full name is actually JOHNSON Albert Smoot. Most of the time he is listed as Albert, but I have found him as J.A., Johnson, and misspelled as Alfred.

The name Teal is spelled and misspelled so many ways that it makes it very difficult to find someone. Teal, Teel, Teale, Tulle, Tolle, Toole, Deal, Deale, Deel, Leal, ... you name it, and it will pop up when you are looking for Teal!

If I could find a marriage certificate for Albert Smoot and Elizabeth Teal, then maybe I could find out the correct spelling of her name. They would have probably been married in either Bath county, Fleming county, or Nicholas county, KY, about 1876 or later, I would guess. There are no records for Kentucky marriages during that time period online that I can find.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do, because I am worn out from searching, Searching, SEARCHING everywhere. I have no parents for Elizabeth, no death date, no marriage date, and can't go further back until I find her parents. I am at my wits end! I seem to have better luck finding someone in 1700 than my own great grandmothers! ha!

Parents of (Johnson) Albert Smoot are Charles Smoot (B 1816) and Sarah June Gilkerson (B 1818) of Mason Co., KY.

Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated!
