Mildred, Thanks for writing.I have Peter Coleman, II married Elizabeth Mahala Bentley. They had William David Coleman, born 1826 in Pike Co., KY. He married Elizabeth Ann Cox, born in 1830 in VA. Their child was David Crockett Coleman, born 1947 in VA. He married Maryann Thacker, born circa 1847. They were married Aug. 31, 1865 in Pike Co., KY. Her parents were Nathaniel Thacker and Delilah (Blackburn) Thacker. Nathanial Thacker born 1803. His parents were Absalom Thacker born 1780 in Pittsylvania Co.Va and mother Nancy Atkins. My great-grandmother was Delilah (Coleman)Blair, daughter of David Crockett Coleman and Maryann Thacker. She married Jacob Christian Blair, on Feb. 25, 1886 in Pike Co., KY. The Indian heritage is believed to come from the Coleman side, most likely back to Maryann Thacker.Do you have another source? My Blair line is full of indian heritage. We are still trying to prove Coleman side.My grandmother is a Mullins, and we all enjoy cousin Brent Kennedy and going to Melungeon Reuions in Wise,Va.Let me know if you have more on Indian heritage with Coleman, Blackburn, or Thackers. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Steven

Mildred, I noticed a Simon Peter Coleman listed on the 1909 Cherokee Miller rolls, living in North Carolina. Could there be any connection with your Simon Peter?

Sorry, it took me awhile to get back to you.
I was looking up information in our family line to see how we were related. Your Peter II is a brother to my gggg grandfather Richard Coleman.
Maryann Thacker would be a 5th cousin to me through our Blackburn line.Nathaniel's sister Sarah married my ggg grandfather Thomas Blackburn Jr they married on 1-Oct-1821 in Floyd County, Kentucky.
I read in your letter that you were related to Mullins. Could you be related to Bill (Bacon) Mullins a Melungeon decendent in our family line?
My grandmother Malissa Violet Coleman from what I have heard from family was a full blooded cherokee.Simon Peter in our family line could be the same one listed on the Cherokee Miller Rolls.
I do have another source that you can check.I read on one of the genealogy sites that my gggg grandmother Nancy Adkins was Cherokee.
Where you mentioned the melungeon reunions in Wise,Va. I was wondering do you live anywhere near Grundy, Virginia?
Please, let me know if this helps you and keep in touch.

Dear Mildred, Thanks for writing back. My Mullins came from Wise County, VA and settled in the Breaks of VA, near Elkhorn City, KY. My Mullins line is Dr. Jim Mullins (Herb Dr.) and his brother, "Counterfit" Sol Mullins. As a matter of fact, I am currently researching and putting together a book about the counterfit money...I even have some of it. I'll go ahead and get the Cherokee applications for Peter Simon Coleman. What I am specifically looking for is any concrete evidence of Indian Heritage such as for Colemans, Adkins, Thackers, or Blackburns...any writen documentation or specifically any photos of individuals who display Indian-type features. Do you happen to have a picture of Malisa Violet Coleman or any Thackers, Adkins, or Blackburns? I also have some pictures of Colemans (specifically of Delilah Coleman Blair) and will be glad to exchange photographs. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Steven

Dear Mildred, I am not familar with Those particuliar Mullins in Wise , but I'm sure we are related some how. I would love some back ground on Malissa Violet Coleman especially any pictures. I had a GGGrand Father, Isaiah Blair marry a Viola Coleman in 10/2/1879. She died around 1940. Anyway, Would Appreciate some pictures of Malisa, I should be able to confirm her indian heritage if she had that much blood in her. By the way, I am registered with Cherokee Tribe in Georgia, along with my children. I used my Indian heritage through the Blair and Coleman side to get into the roles. So If you want, lets trace Malissa for starters. My address is : Steven A. Blair 200 Dalhousie rd. Waynesboro,Va 22980. My e-mail address : . I look forward to hearing from you and will be glad to pay my share for copies, postage, ect. Thanks. Steven Blair
