Surnames: Andersen, Mortensen
I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me the names of cemeteries in Esbjerg and how one might go about searching records. I'm trying to locate the burial place for Rikard Nicolai Schack Andersen (died 1922) and his wife Karen (Mortensen) Andersen (died 1930s), both in Esbjerg. Thanks for your help!

The death and burial records are in church books
held at on open shelves at LAA

The Provincial Archives for Southern Jutland is a branch of The Danish State Archives. It's object is, among other things, to colect and secure historically valuable records from the southern part of Jutland and to place them at the disposal of the public. This is primarely done in the reading room at the archive.

Danish Census and Church Books : Welcome page

very definitely NOT on line

once you have located the parish

teh church yard gardener or sexton will be abkle to locate the graves

BUT after 25 years most graves are recycled unless the family pays for the maintenance of the plot or it is of histoprical interest

Thank you so much for all your great information! I hope the graves I'm looking for haven't been "recycled" but I'm afraid they might have been. Thanks again I appreciate it!
