The above is the daughter of Samuel D. Cox b c 1860 and Anna Cox b c 1860, both in PA. In the 1930 federal census she is shown living with her parents and daughtr, Dorothy b c 1918; in 1920 she is listed as Margaret Smith wd with daughter Dorothy living with her parents in Williamsport; in 1940 she is shown as Margaret Hall, daughter Dorothy ae 12, again living with her parents in Williamsport.

Any information, birth, deaths, obits for Samuel and or anna Cox - it appears Anna d between 1930 and 1940, Samuel after 1940.

I have an ancestor, Bert Eli Gibson. A lady has all of his military papers; she has forwarded copies to me. Her great grandmother was supposedly the daughter of Samuel D. Cox and Annie Holtz. She supposedly was born at home in 1921 although she is in the federal census of 1920 as follows:
Samuel Cox ae 60 b PA f b PA m b PA
Annie Cox ae 61 b PA f b PA m b PA
Charles Cox wd b PA f b PA m b PA
SMITH, Margaret (dau) ae 22 wd b PA f b PA m b PA
SMITH, Dorothy ae 3-4/12 b PA f b PA m A

Dorothy Pearl Smith -- was she adopted by a family surnamed HALL? or did Margaret marry someone susnamed HALL?

In 1930 they are still residing with Samuel D. Cox, as is his son Charles. Margaret is listed as Margaret Hall ae 31 and Dorothy Hall ae 12 b WV f b PA m b PA.

She died as Dorothy Pearl Thomas at Ft. Leavenworth, KS Feb 15 1964.

Somehow she ended up with all of Bert Eli Gibson's military paperwork; he evidently was a career military person and moved a lot.

We are trying to put this puzzle together. Also, the lady I am in touch with doesn't know the full story of her great-grandmother or grandmother so anything you have would be very, very helpful, if not to me, to her.

Thanks K
