I am a Bullock and never knew anything about possible relatives in Tyler County. My father was George Bullock from Beaumont, Texas. His mother was Elizabeth Brady Bullock and she was married to O. B. Bullock. I do not have much other info on this side of the family.
I am also searching the Powell's from Tyler County.
Thanks in advance and let me know if there is a connection. dlb
If you are descended from both Charles Bullock and James Barclay, there is much for you to research, and brag about.
See Tyler County Genealogical society, Barclay and Barkley genforum websites and various others to start to catch up.
You are bound to have some cousins out there. Capt Charles Bullock and his first wife Isabella Scott Bullock had around five children, including Winfield Scott Bullock, Emily Bullock and others. My direct ancestor was Emily Bullock who married John George of the Wood Creek area, whose mother was a Wheat of Chester area. Emily Bullock and John George had a son who died young and four daughters, including Julia, Ima (married Tom Hardy, second wife, son TJ Hardy of Silssbee I think), Willy, and Ada. My grandmother was Ada, who married Geo and Mary Peters Vinson's eldest son James Alfred Vison, Jr. Their daughters were Ruby (Barclay), Zelda (Seamans), Jimmie (Hayes), Mona (Bush). Their son Aldrich died at age seven. Capt Charles Bullock's second wife was Jane Elizabeth Barclay, eldest daughter of Judge James Barclay of Woodville area. They had several children. Some of your living cousins through Capt Charles Bullock and Isabella Scott Bullock are; George Willis Barclay, Ruby Nell Barclay Seale, Teddy Barclay Pope, Linda Hayes, Ralph Seamans of Sillsbee in addition to the previous Willis writer. Were you descended from Charles W Bullock and his second wife Elizabeth, you would have a number of living cousins.
Anyone have Nancy A. BULLOCK who married #1Thomas Marshall KEY #2John Francis (M.?)KELLEY? Nancy was born 1837 in Bedford Co.,TN & moved to Crawford Co., MO when quite young.Later came to TX(prb. Collin Co.). Her parents were Oliver BULLOCK/Rebecca LILE(S).
Hi, step-cousin Carolyn!
I accidentally posted to this site and found you. Thanks for finding and replying to my message.
I descend from John Francis (M?) KELLEY who married #1Mariah Jane KEY, sister of Thomas Marshall KEY, husband #1 of Nancy A. BULLOCK KEY who married #2John KELLEY Dec. 13, 1865, one day before Mariah Jane was buried, Dec. 14, 1865. Right? No hard feelings, just an interesting observation that John KELLEY married his sister-in-law and Nancy married her husband's brother-in-law? Well, YOU figure it.
Also interesting is that Mariah Jane died abt. June 23, 1860, but wasn't buried until Dec. 14, 1865. They waited five years to bury her? Someone said it wasn't too uncommon. Maybe they cremated her, moved her or something. Do you know?
Thanks so much for contacting me. I'm looking forward to comparing notes. If you don't have the Bullock history by Ruth Nesbett, I have a copy and will share if you want it.
Oliver Bullock is my Family Line.
How are you related?
If I can help you out just let me know.
Thanks, Carolyn in Spokane
Would you be any relation to Robert Bullock Pope,by any chance? If so, please contact me.
