I am ALWAYS doing research on the Green surname as that is my maiden name. I even had DNA performed on my brother which created more questions than answers.
My line is William Green b ca.1796 who on all census reports states he was born in TN. By the time I find his whole family in 1850, they are in Weakley Co. and he is married to his 2nd wife, Lucinda. Lucinda could possibly have the maiden name of Pettijohn, but not sure at this time. They have 2 or 3 small children but the older children (there may be others but have not confirmed) are from his first wife. The oldest child still at home is James (b. ca. 1830) who I am descended from is recorded as marrying Sarah Pettijohn Branch later that year in Obion County. I found documentation that Sarah was married to Benjamin Branch from Gibson Co, TN. She either left him and then he committed suicide or she left as a result of it, but she ended up living with her brother John Pettijohn there in Weakley or Obion co in 1850 prior to marrying James.
A few years later, around 1857, they migrate westward to Carter County, MO where there are still family members living. James had a son Robert Jackson b 1857 who was the first of he and Sarah's children born in MO. Robert had a son Robert Henry (b 1891) who was my grandfather. My father who was born in 1933 is still alive along with one sister who is 4 years older.
Let me know if any of these names or dates coincide with anyone in your family. I have connected with a man whose DNA is only 1 number off of 1 marker meaning that we have a most recent common ancestor within 200 yrs. His family is back to SC as far back as 1730. I cannot find a link on his tree. He is the same distance off of another man whose daughter had submitted it and they are from VA...their family never left and that is where she is from. I always thought ours came out of NC....people were a lot more mobile than we gave them credit for!
