I am a descendant of Johanes Weesner. Much of the information I have about my Wisner lineage has come from the G. Franklin Wisner "Wisners in America" book, a xeroxed copy of which I have in my possession.

I am descended from the Adam Wisner line. Specifically, my line (as far as it goes in the book) is: Johannes (chart 1), Adam (chart 28), John, Jacob (both chart 58), Jacob, Jacob, Cecelia (all chart 59). Cecelia (known as "Sissy" in the family) was my grandmother's grandmother. My grandmother, who is 93, remembers her grandmother well, and I have an old photograph of them together. Sissy Wisner lived all of her life, to the best of my knowledge, in Marietta, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

I am particularly interested in communicating with anyone descended from the Johanes-Adam line. I know nothing, for instance, of the various Jacobs and would be very interested in learning more. I am not currently an Ancestry subscriber, and would prefer to be contacted directly at either (work) or

I see a number of names on this message board that I recognize, and many that are new to me. Some of the names are familiar from the RootsWeb Wisner mailing list, a mailing list for the discussion and sharing of information regarding the Wisner surname and variations. For anyone interested in subscribing to the mailing list, address your request to and write just the single word "subscribe" in the body of the message.

MY GGG grandmothers name was Mary Ann and she married Jaheyel Wisner. He was born in 1806 in NJ is what the 1860 census says. His wife was born in PA and so where all his children. His first child was born in 1837 my the name of Annabella C. she married John Watt and died in New York at the age of 29. My GG Grandmother was 19 on the 1860 census which puts her around 1841 birth date. Her name was Emeline or Emma. Emma married Joseph Allen December 6, 1860. There other children's names were Caroline, Jaheryl, Christian or Christina, Edward, and Ezekial. Jaheyl was a plumber and Mary Ann was a nurse after he died. They owned their own house at 632 Carpenter St. Phila PA.

Some of the details are alittle sketchey as you can see. I will firm up later as time permits.

Wisners have been my hardest line! Johannes, Adam, Lt. Thomas, Stephen, Joel, Adoniran Judson, Harriet Lucille (born near Halderman, Ontario, Canada 1850). Adoniran Judson was a fife major in N. Y. state militia for 5 years per death certificate. A blacksmith, he married Electa Belsey Russ about 1843 probably near Halderman. He died in Rusk County, Wisconsin at his son's homestead, buried there temporarily - 28 Aug. 1899. Joel was born @ 1798 (1855 census, Aurora, NY) and was living in John Crawford's household in Milford, MI in 1880 age 82.I need help! E-mail me at
