Looking for info about Fortine LUTZ, born Alcace, Lorraine, France and immigrated to America. He settled in Easton, Faribault Co., MN, which is on southern boundary. His son, Joseph Herman LUTZ, is on the 1920 census and it says he was born 1862 in Alcace, Lorraine, France and he married Louisa DeHaven.

Glad to share what I have, Nancy..I assume your Louisa is my great grandmother's sister? Their mother was Mary Elizabeth DEHAVEN born in Monroe Co PA and moved with her husband to MN in 1860's...

Danette: yes I think that Louisa Lutz was your great grandmother's sister. I also read that Marsha Allen spoke of Shelly, her neighbor, who died of brain cancer. She was the daughter, of a daughter, from my father's first marriage to Marie Bauer.

Very interesting. Do you have the names of all the siblings in Louisa Lutz-Lutz's family? Anna Marie, my great grandmother married John Mize WIEHL..Mary LUTZ married William NUTTER..Josephine LUTZ married Fred MANKE, Louisa LUTZ married Joseph Fortine LUTZ, Otto Lutz never married, Alexander or Ariel Alexandre LUTZ married Edith BURSAU, and Robert LUTZ married twice..He was a widower with several children and married the second time to a widow with kids and they had more together..Her name was Lucy. I have the details, but do not know what you already have. Hope this is some help. I am in contact now with a cousin from Mary Nutter's line, too..doing some good research..in MN and can get to the old news papers etc. You can email me at if you like.

I really don't have any info. Roy Lutz, my father, one of Louisa's sons, was married twice, both wives preceded him in death. I and my brother Ed, were from his second marriage, he had eight children from his first, Shelley's mother is the daughter of Dorothy who was my father and Marie Bauers daughter. Thanks for the info would like to learn more.

Will try and get you my e-mail address. I know at one time, Marsha Allen had e-mailed my brother Ed. So maybe we could try that route, Thanks Danette

Yes, it would be good..as I have a photo with Louisa LUTZ in it..and I can send that when we can get in touch. I have a lot of information, but there is always room for more. Thanks for sharing. I have seen the place where Francis and Mary DeHaven Lutz are buried near Easton MN and have photos of their tombstone, also. I live in Florida and that was a long way from home. Have you seen the Faribault Co MN history book? There are some biographies in it of our LUTZ family.
