Debby.
You are living proof that there are angels here on earth. Your husbands ancestors would be very proud to know that you have carried on their work. Thanks. Annette

My GGrandfather Alexander Hardy 1856 - 1928
married a Nora Prescott and lived in the Holmes County Area in the 1890's. A cousin
remembers stories about a Dolly Commander who
would visit the family after they moved back to Coffee County Alabama. I'm looking for information on Dolly and a possible family connection?

Thanks,
Bill Hardy

Debbie, rather than email you at your email address, I decided to ask here if you have anything for a William (Chancey) Commander, born about 1734 in Pasquotank County, NC. ( I just made a post asking for info for him) His parents were Joseph Commander and Mary Chancey. They seem to have left the Pasquotank area, and may have come to SC. I know there are many Commanders in and near Sumter County, SC...and one of the later Chanceys was in Sumter County after moving from Bladen County, NC, then moving on to Alabama.

The last time I find William in Pasquotank, is in 1769 when he was enumerated in an early census or tax census..

Thanks, Robert Chancey

The following was given to me, I did no research. Does it match your records. Capt. Joseph F. Commander married a Mourning Stephens Crow and had a daughter named Angelina Adaline Commander born may 2, 1826 in Sumter District, S. Caroline died in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas on June 1, 1886. Have you heard of these people?

Capt. Joseph Commander, Jr
